 Thanks, Sweetie! No, that last picture on the right is of Alicia Keys. But, hey, I'm working on getting there...(and one...and two...)

(Actually, I'm going to edit my siggy so people know that last picture is of her.)

GIRLLLLLLLL I used to think the same thing. Don't feel bad, I was more like 12 or 13 when I asked my mom for a relaxer because I wanted long hair. It made sense at the time, the women on the boxes had long hair and so did my mom (at the time she had one). Thankfully, I didn't get a relaxer until college, cuz I would have jacked my hair up!

I got something even more clueless that I use to think when I was kid.

My mom would do my hair and comb it and it would hurt so bad, and I would see pantene pro-v commercials with white women in it. well I started asking my mom for it and she would always ask why...

long story short I thought that it would make my hair straight like white people's hair, Lol well now I know that that is definately not true!!!

:lachen: :lachen: hehe, I guess parents sometimes DO know what they're talking about!

A good friend of mine was a model and she had a thick healthy head full of weave. When modeling didn't work out well for her, her agent suggested modeling her hair but then couldn't find her any manufacturer who was willing to work with unnatural (weaved) hair. Her trial made me think that the models hair is generally real.:ohwell:

As a clueless kid, I used to think that relaxers were for growing hair not staightening it since the only women that were on the box covers back then were long-haired ladies. I used to beg my mom for a relaxer as a kid and she'd yell at me for wanting one. I wondered why so was so mean, and didn't want me to have long ahir. Hehe, now I know why she wouldn't let my naive six year-old self use the relaxer!!:lachen:

 :lachen:  :lachen:

 Okay fine...who cares about Alicia Keyes...from pic one to pic two is still a major improvement in both arenas...

I was sooo not kiding about either the regimen or the diet though:look:

I know of several hair models in the ATL and the hair is all their own.

Hold it! Dynamic1 - your hair is gorgeous! :)

About the ladies on the boxes...well...I think some of them have naturally straight or wavy hair or just well maintained relaxed hair. For those of you who were 6 and 12 when you believed your hair would look as good as the ladies' on the box, I was around 20 when I still believed that. LOL! I was in shock when my friend from South Africa told me that they had weaves and fake hair etc. Wow! What a revelation. I grew up in an igloo though, so don't mind me :lachen:

And we know it's absolutely false (he can keep lying if he wants). The avalon people murdered my buddy's hair, who is a model. They permanently dyed her hair 7 times in one day and added pieces. She lost a lot of hair. To my knowledge, She signed an agreement saying that she couldn't sue.

I've had the photoshop program for years so I don't believe much that I see. It's really sad that on some hair product boxes that the models are obviously wearing weaves. They do it to enhance the look (what I call "lying" but oh well). Mascara wearers do the same thing also.

No, it is true! Have a cousin and three friends that were spokesmodels for them and i also have a friend that works in their marketing department. all of these people i know have been used in their ads and my cousin has been used in one of their ads that they are still using to this day. she is also a stylist herself. my cousin is repping for one of their relaxer haircare systems. two of my friends were models for the color and at-home-care products, since they don't have relaxers in their hair. Avalon using Niko and another top hair stylist ( can't think of his name right now), but these men can really make your hair look good.

Thank you ... :D.
I have admired your hair for a while!

AtlantaJJ I know some type 2's that do get relaxers as well.

can someone explain to me EXACTLY what "photoshop" is? :perplexed i know a lot of people are upset about it, but i don't know why or anything about "photoshop". can someone please fill me in? TIA.

One of my close friends is on the Profectiv Mega Growth container..

she got her hair done every week, under contract to do so, by a designated stylist..

I would NEVER agree to do it tho cuz they can pretty much do what they want....

OT dynamic may I have your hair  it's gawjussss! And back on topic, I think some are real and some are fake, but photoshop does wonders like a few ladies mentioned earlier.

Thank you a bunch. You can have it for a few hours every Sunday. :lachen: Just make sure it's clean, detangled and moisturized. :D
