This may sound dumb but...What is bagging? Why use aloe vera on my hair?

Baggying is an intensive moisturizing treatment for the hair b/c it requires you to saturate your hair in a moisturizer overnight or all day (or however long you want to keep your hair covered).

How I baggy: After I co-wash my hair, I put in an water based moisturizer then I add a little oil to seal (most of the time I use coconut or JBCO oil), then I put a shower cap on and go to sleep. In the morning, my hair will be a little damp, but I don't mind it b/c it lets me mold my hair into any style. I usually do this when my hair needs a little more tlc (usually a few weeks before and after I permanently dye my hair). Don't do it too much in the winter b/c it's too cold.

Aloe Vera helps to prevent hair loss b/c it contains enzymes that stimulate hair production. It is a natural moisturizer and it naturally protects your hair from the harmful rays of the sun.

ITA! I recently started baggying my whole head and I definitely see a difference in my strands. Using the correct products (moisturizers) is the key to a successful baggy treatment!

How often does one do this? Is it an everyday thing or just after you do something to it like wash, dye, etc..?

I have been on this board for a year and I still can not figure out the difference between a leave in and a moisturizer? Do you use a moisturizer after washing out the dc, and use a leave in for moisturize between washing?I'm so confused since I see people spray aloe vera juice or a spritz on their hair, then use a leave in. What's the difference between the two?So do I moisturize my hair befor bagging or use a leav in? Sorry for any confusion to the post.

Thanks,
Naskat

A leave-in to me is any product you leave in your hair after it's dry. Whether it is simply a styling agent or a moisturizer. They are all leave-ins. When I'm wearing my hair out of braids or twists, I use S Curl to moisturize and provide the slip needed to comb my hair. It is also my styling agent as I need it to style my hair and it makes my coils pop. Once I apply, I don't rinse it off so it is my leave-in. I don't know if other people differentiate the words, but a leave-in is just that: something you leave in your hair instead of washing out. So aloe, spritz, moisturizer, etc...if you aren't washing it out, then it is a leave-in.

I baggy every night. I have even baggied continuously over several days when I was wearing my hair covered under a hat or wrap. I don't use a leave-in when in braids or twists, so I get my moisture from washing my hair. I find sleeping in a baggy every night keeps my hair soft and moisturized.

There are people who baggy the ends of their hair when wearing a phony pony. Look at Adrienne0194's album for a demo. Also Dontspeakdefeat demonstrates a way to baggy your ends when wearing a bun, IIRC.
