Please don't give up. That stylist unnecessarily cut your hair! I'm so sorry this happened to you. The best thing is to start trimming your own hair or go to a place where all they do is cut hair - like Super Cuts - and watch them like a hawk!

if you're not against braids and weaves, I would say get some done asap, it'll give you another boost and you'll feel motivated again when you see how much length you will retain.

IA. :yep: When a stylist went to town on my own head and took me from here:

To here (my first puff after the BC):

I let myself get angry for a bit, then I dusted myself and looked at this as an opportunity to start afresh. I enjoyed my TWA as I discovered the wonders of S Curl and wore it in different styles:

And then when I got tired of combing my hair daily, I braided it for over a year, and cannot tell you my glee when at 16 months, I undid a braid and pressed it and saw my hair back where it was before the BC if not a touch longer:

So look at this as a challenge, and a new beginning. If there's any way you can avoid going to see a stylist, I'd advice you to do that. Or if you are relaxed and must go for touch-ups, take a friend and be sure to make it clear that no trims will be taking place.

More importantly, please dust your hair regularly. It'll save you ever needing a trim or even feeling like you need one.

Did you have your hair colored? If so do you think the hair color caused more damage and the stylist that cut your hair took more off than necessary?

Don;t give up. Looking at your ends, you may be in need of some very heavy dcing. Also, do you color your hair is is that your natural color? It you are coloring, you may need to buy products that are specially formulated for color treated hair. Also, trimming your ends are not a major deal right now. You can stretch your trimmings for up to a year or longer, depending on how many split ends you may have.

I think if you establish a strict conditioning regimen along with daily moisturizers, vitamins, lots of water and a protein treatment such as Mega Tek or OCT you will be fine. Hope this helps!

Thanks everybody. Yes it wad done by a stylist. I have no idea how to cut/dust my hair so I let a stylist do it. I regret it now but I also can't take it back... :wallbash:

I purchased the splitender...for me it works great for dusting...You can do reviews on it at youtube. HTH.

Thanks everybody... I've been feeling really down these past few days. And have only been keeping up my hair routine this past week because I felt like I had to... I really needed this encouragement. I'm glad to know I can come here for support at any time.

Others have posted this already - but why not find a protective style you like and stick with it for a while - braid/twist extensions, weave, wig, something. Just put your hair away for a while and don't think about it other than to keep it clean and conditioned. You'll grow back everything that was cut off plus so much more in a year. It's worth trying.

Anybody can take the easy way out and give up, it takes a strong willed person to brush it off and keep on reaching for the goal! Do u wanna be the quitter or the one who perseveres?

AWww ((((hugs))) I've been where you are. I agree with the advice that everyone else has already given you. Don't give up on your HHJ! A setback is just a setup for a comeback.

OT: I like your tats OP

Lol. Thanks. getting a tattoo hurts but I still think its worth it.

Yes, I have my hair dyed. I just started my HHJ a few months ago so I think my hair was more damaged from not taking care of it rather than color... My hair has been through ALOT more. lol. If it was a crime, I should definitely be in jail for hair torture. :look:

Thanks! I think my hair looks really dry in the second pic because I blow dried my hair out on high heat. (I know, I know. WRONG) And thats very drying for my hair, but at that point in time I wasn't really caring about that. I was more upset about the cut. I DC 2x a week though overnight.

I was looking into MT and OCT, but my pocketbooks can't afford that at this time...

I will look into that...

Thanks everybody once again! This is such a wonderful community! From all the PM's I received and motivation in here and tips. I'm not going to let this hold me back.

I am so sorry this happened to you. It will grow back. Don't be too discouraged. Just try to stay positive and maybe do a ps style where you don't see your hair. It might help to leave it alone for a little while.
