That can possibly understand how I feel today. I know I haven't been around Ladies, and mostly lurking when I do pop in. I've just really become frustrated (again) with my hair. Its just not getting longer. OK, so I decided that I would just concern myself with the condition of my hair. Avoiding heat and keeping it simple. Anyone who remembers me, know I workout alot and have trouble with sweat.

So for the logest time I have been wear a phony pony, and while it is cute, the stlying is limited. Then I started experincing a little breakage on my edges. So I wanted a rest. I use to buy 3/4wigs and wear my hair out to camoflague the wig. But since the Quick weaves™ are all the rave, now, they are all I can really find in stores. I have trouble blending my hair with those and getting a realistic look.

So enter the hair weave. I decided to try one. Even got a little color/highlight action. Well, I was an hour late to work today trying to blend my hair with the weave. i don't know what to do and just wanted to vent.

BTW I can't believe how many ladies are here now and how many graemlins are currerently available!

haha...i know. there are about 1 million of those things.

ok, back to your hair. i know that feeling of being fed up w/ the hair. now, i recently became an air-drying activist like the many hear on the site. i will say that this is only because i actually found a decent air-dried hairstyle to wear.

I think:

#1 - get rid of the weave. I think weaves should only be worn for the functionability of having a quick style. You sound like a perfectionist like me, so I feel you on the blending thing.

#2 - Since you work out alot, frequent rinses and air-drying seem to be the thing for you. So, it's all clear:
you need to find an air-drying style that suits your lifestyle and personality.

Now that you know what you're looking for, we're hear to help.

Hello Carrie! How are things in the fitness world? Any competitions coming up for you?

After reading your post, a few questions came to mind. Since the time you were feature of the month, or whenever it was that you feel your hair was at its best, what do you think has changed with you haircare routine that could be causing it to seem that it is not growing? Are you having any other problems (dryness, brittleness, dry scalp, etc.)?

Off the top of my head, I am wondering if you are using a shampoo/conditioner product that is designed for swim and sport? If not, it is something to consider because those types of products are designed to handle the problems of salt, chlorine, and harmful minerals that are left behind by sweat.

I think we can put our collective heads together to figure this out. I don't remember your full regimen, but maybe if you can provide a little info about your current regimen, we could get to the bottom of your problem.

Hi Carrie! I have recently jumped on the fitness band wagon and I know what you are coming from with the sweat thing. I have recently had my hair braided with extensions to give me ease of styling. Braids don't take have as much time in the care and if you sweat you can handle it. There are many braided styles out and as long as you care for your hair, there should not be any breakage.

Consider it as an option.

Or if you can learn to french braid your own hair. I think that this might be good idea to combat puffiness that comes with sweating.

Hi guys! AngieK things are well. I am getting ready for a competition in November in Miami. Karezone i have done the braids before, and they worked OK. Only thing is (and I know this is triflin) but they take too long to put in and longer for me to take out. Each time is my whole Saturday and with work and training, I have little time.

That is why the ponytail was working. I have been relaxing with Affirm and using Elasta QP products. My own hair is in pretty descent condition. My bad spot in the back has grown. There isn't an obscene amount of breakage, but I have noticed short piecs in the front and I know it ain't "baby hair"!

Hi Carrie! I have been wondering where and how you have been.

Perhaps to have a quick style and look cute, you could try a bun or a chignon with hair sticks. Fast, simple, and decent looking styles and with the hair sticks, cute!

Hi Carrie!

I understand about the short pieces of hair. I've noticed some short hair developing in the front of my head also and I know it's not baby hair either!

Yeah, I am pretty sure that is the culprit. My hair is so thick I try to keep it from poofing up, so I piull it tight.

On a good note my weave and I are getting along much better now. Here is a pic

OMG Carrie, you are so pretty! Have you tried wearing the phonytails and buns with your edges loose?

With a relaxer your phonytail choices are unlimited. I see soooo many cute, straight hairpieces.

Good luck at the competition!

OKay so the short pieces are a esult of pulling the ponytale too tight, which is no longer a problem since you are taking a break from it. I suggest using a protein treatment on that section to strengthen it up again. I like KeraCare 5-in-1 and I love Elucence Intensive Moisture Repair Treatment (it's a protein treatment) followed by Elucence Moisture Balancing Conditioner. Elasta's Hair Serum is a great alternative to the Elucence Intensive Repair Treatment. Since, you are already using a conditioner by Elasta, I would follow the serum up with that conditioner.

I'm glad to hear you and the weave are now getting along, it just took a little getting used too. Keep your scalp oiled (so that your hair will be in good condition when you take the weave down). BTW - Your weave looks awesome. I never would have guessed. Hhhmm. NOw you have me thinking about getting one. I've wanted the braids but I feel you on taking them out. I too have thick hair and know it would be big chore.

I hope you are feeling better now. And I'll be prayin for you on the competition. I hope you win it girl.

Leigh

Leigh and you other ladies, thank you for your support and suggestions. I did buy the Serum by Elasta QP. I am really liking their products. I think my weave and I are friends now.
