Yesterday I went to the beauty supply store to get a protein treatment with my friend. A black woman approached me and my friend asked us did we need help. My best pipes up and says "We're looking for a protein treatment." The woman says to us, "I never heard of that." And she walks off all confused.

Maybe she was new there. It is sad that she doesn't know how to help the costomers. Was her hair jacked up. I find that when I go to the BBS most of the people that work there have jacked up hair that's covered with weave.

I know when I mention half of the thingswe discuss so freely on the forum industry people are like huh what whats that? I mean basics like leave ins, light moisturizer, just generals I though it was my southern accent:lol:  The worst thing of late a coworker was like I need to get a hair softner for my neice. I was like a 'hair softner' you mean like a conditioner of some sort? a leave in? or deep conditioner process? No she's like its called Vigorol I was like the perm you want to perm your five year old niece hair to make it soft, please don't do that. She was like I just relaxed my 3 year old and her hair is fine. This little girl hair is about .5" all around dry and breaking.

I find that most BSS workers don't have a clue what's going on. Especially at the black BSS. I was in one a few weeks ago, a customer asked what's a good deep conditioner and the girl behind the register was at a loss. Finally she was said uhhh, Dark and Lovely :perplexed She had no clue.

LMFAO@Dark and Lovely. I was in Walgreens and they had a whole exclusive area for Dark and Lovely products. I shuddered and went right for the Garnier HAHAHA.

I went to salleys and ask the lady for a good deep conditioner she gave me SILK ELEMENT CHOLOSTRAL PLUS but she (had no hair but damage spike diff colors)on her head i picked PROCLAIM MOISTURE CONDITIONER and left.

Wow:eek: One time I asked for a moisturizing conditioner and the lady (at Sally's!) said "Honey, they all gon be moisturizin', 'cuz you put on on when your hair is wet. Moisturize mean water right?":lachen:

Oh. Uhm, wow. :lachen: I guess I've never run into this problem because I've always known what I wanted and needed no help. I could see how the BSS workers have no idea about half the stuff we talk about on the boards. You would think they'd know what they carry in their own stores. Sheesh.

After I got finished laughing:lachen: :lachen: :lachen: I had to break it down to her from the reading of SisterSlick. Then she just said "Oh, Ok. I'll try to remember that next time"

I won't trust any one working at the BSS...one time a worker told me a certain hair color wouldn't work on black hair! Ummm, okaaaay...Wella works on everyone, regardless of race, thanks!

And then another time I went to the BSS after I'd done my hair, which was looking fabulous.
Another woman asked me what I used, I told her and then went on down the aisle...I heard the Sally's chick tell the other woman, "Humph! Don't believe a word she says, that hair is FAKE!"

Heifer.

These days I just go in, grab what I want, and don't ask questions...I get all the info I need from my own research and this great board.

When I go to the Asian BBS. If the person helping me doesn't know what I'm asking for there is always another employee who does. Never fails. It's a huge store and there's always about 5-7 employees working at one time.

I may go into a store and ask for a specific name of a product if I don't feel like searching the aisles, but I never ask for product recommendations from any employee.

You should have flipped your hair at her and made sure the ends hit her in the face (or at least came close to it).

I never ask anyone for help either when I go. Its sad when I know more about hair care than the employees working there!

Unfortunately, that's the state of black hair care. We get better information from hairboards such as LCHF than from black hair magazines or BSS stores. I have learned to not ask any questions. I swear, people were more knowledgeable 30 years ago.

I cannot believe that she does not know what a protein treatment is. I mean I knew that before I even heard about LHCF. It really is not rocket science. Many people know what protein treatments are, and maybe just need some help being able to determine when they need them or how to use them or whatever. But, come on!?! She just did not know what they are?!? Maybe she was just young. Even is she was new there she should have known.
