Since I've been on this board I swore myself off to using products with any form of SLS or mineral oil. But I'm finding that I'm left with very few products to choose from! My beloved Breakthru slippy wonderful moisturizing shampoo got discontinued and now I'm on the hunt for a new one...and I'm having a hard time finding one that meets my standards.

Is there anyone here who decided after a while to give up their SLS or mineral oil (or other ingredient) prejudice? Or are you the type of person that will stick to your personal rules re: ingredients no matter what?

I had a prejudice against cones, sls, and mineral oil. I allowed cones(serums, conditioners, and moisturizers) and sls (shampoos) back in. The only product that I use that has mineral oil is in the relaxer I use. Conditioners and moisturizers with mineral oil in it have a crummy effect on my hair.

I try to watch ingredients, but the deciding factor in what I use is how it works on my hair. At first I tried to rule out certain things, but now i look at what else the product contains and where on the ingredient list it is.

I might have to start doing this. I'm kind of afraid though cuz I haven't regularly used SLS shampoos in almost a year! I guess I have to get over the stigma? :look:

I gave up SLS but not sulfates completely I can't part with my ORS creamy aloe shampoo but I have cut back on that too. I completely cut out mineral oil before I even knew it was back for the scalp. I just started a new regimen leaning more towards natural products in hopes it will help with the persistent split ends.
