I have been reviewing this technique for a while and thought about incorporating it once I move past 8 weeks post relaxer (those last 4-6 weeks of my stretch get crucial!!!) However, I am concerned that the oil will weigh down my thin tresses. I have to use oil VERY sparingly or I come out looking like a bald headed chicken:lachen:! Just wondering...

I used baby oil, but don't do it often. It didnt weigh down my hair at all. However to gain thickness i believe castor oil is working for me. The regular one.

I started rinsing with coconut oil for the winter weather. I rinse it out really well and then apply conditioner so it's soft but not greasy.

I've been doing this for the past 10 days or so and my hair has been fine so far. I don't see any tremendous results, but my hair does seem a little more moisturized when I do wash-n-go's.

Any more input?

Do you mean pure oil for a rinse, or like the ones you you can order from Domincan shops? I have thick hair, but it is very fine, and I have never used pure oil as a rinse, but the Dominican ones I have used, and no it does not weigh my hair down. But now that you guys mention it, I'd like to know more about castor oil as a rinse!!!!!

you hair sounds like this....my hair is thick, but also fine...kind of hard to explain.

Anyway to answer the OPs question, I have had success with oil rinses. I like EVOO the best or mixed with a little castor oil...the trick is to only use a small amounth. A quarter size amount should be plenty. I divide my hair in half down the middle and use a nickel size on each side and just work it in really well. Ive found I can literally just add a leave in after Im done and my hair will air dry soft. I used to have to use a lot of products to prevent hard/stiff air dried hair.

I don't use it because it makes my hair feel stiff!! does this happen to anybody? I only seal my ends now too because the oil makes my hair feel stiff and nasty like it needs to be clarified!!
