Thermal texturizer?

Sorry if I seem negative but I didn't see any "natural texture" left in her hair, unless she's a type 1 or 2. It looked like she had a strong brazilian keratin treatment to me.

When the term "Thermal _____" is used, it's usually just a fancy way of saying heat damaged.

ETA: I just finished watching the video and this definitely looks like heat damage/training to me. There was no texture left in that girls hair (no matter how hard the hair dresser scrubbed :look:). She blow-dried then hot combed it to death and made sure it was "hot enough to make it shine with no products."

I guess they missed the memo that people do not like Dominican blowout because of the risk of heat damage...

Yea I understand that part, but I know that is how my hair has always look when I have washed it natural or relaxer until I put shampoo on it my hair curls back up. Nope to be rude and I am staying in a childs place I just wanted to know what product it was or a product similar to it. I just wanted to use this product or know more about it. I hope I am not not coming off rude or anything like that. IMO I think you can have healthy heat trained hair but that is just me

There's no product involved...she said at least ten times "no chemicals"...so taking her word for it, I'm assuming she just blow dries and hot combs her hair every 3 weeks until most of her texture is gone.

Really though, she probably does use some pressing oil or something similar and if she did she's not admitting to it.

ETA: Try messaging her for more details. Ask what products she used after the wash and condition. HTH

I did message them and nobody got back with me, I thought that would help me out alot but it didn't. I know the ladies on here can find everything lol

I didn't see not one natural curl "pop" in. That stylist was shampooing frantically trying to find some texture to show.

Okay I should not have said natural texture, I just wanted to know what product it was. After listening I don't think there is one or a product that could do that that is chem free.

I think that was the point the stylist was trying to make. There was no 'special' product used, it was simply a good old fashioned hair pressing. Once you get into the cycle of pressing, it should take less effort to get your hair straight.

I was more concerned when she said the hairstyle would last for THREE weeks. I couldn't imagine going back to not washing my scalp that far in between.

Yeah, you must have had it on mute the first time, cause she said "NO PRODUCT" 50-11 times.

Thermal texturizing sounds so fancy. This is an old fashioned hot comb pressing, like I used to get when I was a little girl. The term "dry" press was used if you did not want any product on your hair right before pressing. This gave the hair more body & movement versus using grease which would weigh it down. The norm was to get your hair pressed every two weeks, so I'm sure there were many heat trained naturals back then. This wasn't the goal though, it was just the process you had to go through if you wanted straight hair without a relaxer.

Um... I have no answer for the op, but just a comment on the video: When my hair was RELAXED, I had more "curl" when wet than what I saw on that customer!

^^^ dang.... yeah no curl, wave, or kink in sight. Y do ppl think just by saying something, we'll believe it??? I remember those pressing days as a kid too, hot comb on the burner and pressing oil, I remember them well.

You know what, not all naturals want to show their natural texture. They want strait hair without a relaxer. Being natural isn't all about having an afro. It's about freedom from chemicals. It truly is a good option for people who can't use or choose not to use relaxers.
