I was wondering your thoughts about thermal straightening. How would you compare it to using heat with a blowdryer, flat iron, etc.? I'm transitioning and I wonder if thermal straightening has the same destroying potential to natural hair form/texture as other sources of heat?

Both deliveries have the same potential - cripsy, brittle, split hair.

Heat is heat is heat. Damage from irons might be quicker to show because the heat is direct rather than diffuse like a blowdryer. It takes skill to work with direct heat.

In any case, prepare the hair before thermal straightening then properly condition it after you're done wearing the straight look.

Thanks... your reply was helpful, SVT! :)

I think I'll just stick to my "No Heat Challenge" for now! :D
