Or maybe the shower head is not powerful enough. Anyway, my hair just wants to mat under this water. Does anyone else have this problem? What do you do to combat it? Bonjour

You might be right... I live in California where we have very hard water (impurities, insouluable and damaging minerals). Perhaps this is the same problem in Ohio.
Check the search engine... there are several posts about hair reacting to hard water and one post about hard water regions in the U.S. Sorry, I'd post the links myself but I haven't quite learned how to do it correctly
About a year ago I purchased a water filter for my shower. This is one of the best things I've ever done for my hair and skin 
!!! Purified water helps your products to be more effective by allowing for a better lather and easier penetration into the hair follicle and absorbtion into the skin. Try doing a google or ebay search for water/shower filters, there are many different kinds that may suit your needs. HTH
