Hi, I'm a newbie  so all the silicone talk is a little confusing. I'm not sure how to read the labels to know if it has silicone, should I just assume that everything that ends with "cone" is bad? Can someone school me on this subject or direct me to some threads? TIA:yep:

Firstly I'd just like to say that silicones aren't BAD, really.

It's just that when they build up, then you can have a problem with dryness.

Used in moderation, they have their benefits. They are great for slip, heat protection, sealing in moisture and shine.

Also, all cones don't build up the same way. Just like oils, some cones are heavier than others.

So unless your hair is very sensitive to cones, I'd try to limit them, but not eliminate them. I don't use products that has cones in the first 3 ingredients... except for serums when I'm straightening.

Some people's hair loves cones too... it's always good to do a little tiny bit of experimenting with products.

Try doing a search for cones and you'll have plenty of hits :)

Yes, most of them end in "cone"
