So I have been on this unending quest to grow out my hair and I have heard that hair vitamins are suppose to be really good in helping you grow your hair longer and stronger. I know of course that it doesn't make you hair grown any faster it just keeps it healthy so that it doesn't break off as easy.

I was just wondering if any of you all take regular hair vitamins and if so which ones and how has it been working for you. I am tempted to go and try some out but I just don't want to waste my money I have a house full of products and really need to scale back on running out and buying any and everything ( I am sure that you all can feel me on that).

Now I actually noticed that my hair looked tons better when I started a juice fast for my weightloss program but this is probably because I made my own juices that were full of whole fruits and vegetables. The think about that is I would love to find a vitamin that I could take when I don't have the time for making my own juices.

thank you

I don't know how new you are but if you are really new, then I would suggest do a search for threads relating to hair vitamins because this topic has been done on this forum many times and countless bandwagons have been started in regards to vitamins. That's how I could tell you were a new poster because this is a question that um some would find extremely obvious :look:

So do the search, there are way too many vitamins to list that we have talked about on here. A good start however is always Biotin and and maybe either a mutlivitamin or a hair vitamin like GNC Ultranourishair.

But yeah, um, really do that search :yep:

hi. welcome! you can search, but i know it's also really useful to have people share their experiences and that searches can feel overwhelming. plus, who has that much time!

i used ultrahair by nature's gate, i believe, at the beginning of my hair journey. they are fairly expensive and pretty big. i'm a bit of skeptic about hair vitamins. i think they may have worked a little, but nothing too significant. i was also disturbed that my body wasn't absorbing the biotin as it mostly came out in my urine and as i said they were expensive. some people experience break-outs with biotin and suggest drinking more water. i was fine with that until one day about 2 months in when i got the zit from hell and i never break out. i called it quits then. i recently thought about using them again, but i've decided not too.

some people also say biotin supplements don't work unless you have a biotin deficiency. i don't know about that. my nails grew super fast when i took them, though.

that's just my experience though. i do hope that others respond. for reference, i took them every other day.

happy hair growing!

I use Country Life Maxi Hair. However, I have never had issues with my hair being brittle or my nails being soft, because I've taken a multi since I can remember and try to eat healthily.

I can definitely say that my roots are shiny, soft, and easy to lay down though.

You don't need to take a supplement if your nutrition is on point, but I take them anyway just in case.

Hey AvaSpeaks thanks for that spill on how I should do a search it was very helpful. Come to think of it every topic has probably been covered and I assume nobody really needs to post anything since most questions could probably be answered somewhere else.

Now here is why I actually asked the question because yes I could do a search and find a ton of stuff on it but at the same time have to muddle my way through a ton of old threads with information that may not be any good now as most people find some things don't work. So being the person I am I decided let me ask this question so I can get information that is relevant as of today. And thanks I will look into the Biotin.

Of course not to be rude because I am sure you were just being informative thank you again for that warm welcome. Have a really great day and ever so wonderful weekend.

Yeah I've recently gotten back into the vitamins thing because I'm sure I could be doing better nutrition wise. I agree all the posts I see are at least 1-2 years old. I personally take a Walgreens Hair Skin Nails vitamin. I haven't seen that big of a difference except soft hair so I dunno....

@blessedandlucky and @ellepixie thank you for your responoses

The thing is I am a bit skeptical about the whole hair vitamin thing I have watched a ton of YouTube type reviews and I am not a 100% sure if this is something I want to try. Honestly it maybe something worth asking my doctor about to see what his take on hair vitamins is.

I am tempted to try something but at the same time I know that too many vitamins can cause other issues. I am currently doing a ton of strenght training so I am pretty good when it comes to the nutritional side which is where I started to waver on if I am going to actually try hair vitamins or not. I am not trying to get jacked up just trying to grow out my hair due to having to many vitamins or the wrong kind.

I don't really have to many issues with my hair but I am always looking for something to help it along.

i really think good hair care practices, a good diet and exercise are all you need. because, seriously, who cares if your hair grows and you can't retain it because your hair practices are jacked up?

what are your goals?

I take the GNC Ultranourish Hair. I like them because they give me alot of energy. I've noticed more body hair and nail growth, so I take it they work.

@blessedandlucky My hair is currently at my bra strap and I am really looking to get it to about 3 inches past that so I am thinking like full on mid back length. I also feel like my hair is alot thinner than I would like it to be when it is straight which is very rarely since I am in the military my hair is always wash and go and in a bun.

But I set the goal for myself to get my hair to full on mid back length by the end of this year which I think is doable for me and then I want to cut it all off and do it again ( I know that sounds crazy but I actually love my hair short but just want to grow it out just to do it).

@nappystorm more energy is truly something that I could use but then again I probably just need to take my butt to bed on time instead of keeping such late nights. That is the other thing I don't want hair growing in places that I don't want hair growing (but I assume that if the hair on your head grows it will all grow). Do you have to buy those vitamins on the internet or did you get them at your local GNC?

I take Andrew Lessman vitamins; he's on HSN. I've seem my hair grow and get healthier since using his vitamins. I've also seen a change in my nails, they are stronger and don't break, or split quite as easily.

@ the local GNC. I take them mostly for health reasons because my diet and exercise regimen needs work and I need the extra boost.

The search thing works though because alot of people take different vitamins.

As for GNC Ultranourishair, I swear by them BUT I have even fell off my vitamins and last year my hair grew like weeds  So I don't know, I never been really consitent with them but I am getting back into them and Iron.
