found a big stash of this in my stuff, tried it and I think it just helps to detangle and smoothe the cuticles. the insx say leave on the 2 minutes. so I compare it to a rinse.

yep, I would have to agree... it just smooths your cuticles for ease of combing.
 
I like to use queen helene cholesterol for 15 mins as a deep conditioner. I think it depends on the formula. Some other ones I have used like lekair say to use for 5mins then rinse while others say 15mins with heat. I think cholesterols do help smooth the cuticle and I get less tangling when I use them. When I use them as deep conditioners, I find that they give me a good balance of moisture with a touch of light protien.
