Knots plague most of us here. They occur because the basic nature of our curly hair .

What causes knots and ways to minimize them:

  1. Washing hair vigoursly. This is the main place it occurs. You are essentially tangling your hair if you wash your hair this way. Peep Qtesh's (sp) video and study her method to reduce this from happening.
  2. Combing/Finger combing. It is a rare circumstance that we call put any type of comb or even our fingers through our hair in the first pass. The minute you hit what I call "the hair wall", or where the comb or fingers stop down the strands, you create an opportunity to for knots to form. That is why it is important to ALWAYS detangle from the ends of the hair upwards. Yes, you may still get knots, but they will be closer to the ends of your hair and not in the middle of your hair strand.
