My hair is pretty healthy wen its dry and right after a good conditioner. My hair tends to curl when its wet so sometimes I'll run my fingers thru my hair to see how tangled it is and as soon as my fingers come out with an easy glide: i have mad long hair in my fingers: I dunno if it was shedded hair or it broke off close to the roots. Same thing when I wash my hair, my hair rolls down my back and it gets caught under my butt. But I grab it and its like long strands of hair but they are knotted.

IS THERE A WAY I CAN STRENGTHEN MY HAIR WHILE WET?
p.s. For rollersets, I have to comb my hair while wet

WHAT HAS/ARE THE LITTLE THINGS DO FOR YOU?
  • drinking plenty water
  • using a direct leave in after conditoner
  • co-wash (not sure how to do this)
  • mixing conditioners
  • putting oils/moisturizers in w/ conditioners
  • any more...............?

Tying my hair down the night before I wear it in a poney or pull back style makes a big difference.

One little thing that has helped me alot of pre-pooing. It doesn't have to be entensive. Just putting cholesterol on my ends a couple of minutes before washing has made a huge difference. Also using porosity control just for a minute before deep conditioning has totally changed my hair.

thanks and I do have cholesterol:)

I comb when wet during my weekly rollersetting. If my hair seems too elastic and then finally breaks, then I know I need protein. I would probably use Motions CPR the next time I wash. If I notice small pieces of broken hair, then I will DC with a moisturizing conditioner (Motions Moisture Plus) during my next wash session. For me, knotted hair = dry hair, so I would make sure my hair is well moisturized and sealed with oil.

Simply leaving-my-hair-alone has helped my hair tremendously. After I wash, I then rollerset for spiral curls, which require very little day-to-day manipulation. I see very little breakage. My hair is retaining length so well, and my ends are thick. I am almost 5 weeks post and can hardly wait until my next touchup to see my true length. "counting down...7 more weeks"

Saturating my hair with castor oil, and putting on a little conditioner about 15 - 20 min before shampoo or co-washing. This is a quick little prepoo that really helps my hair. I sometimes only do this for 5 min.:)

Hm, seems like I should always pre-poo...sometimes I feel like I over do it pre-pooing

Thats how i feel too, but after reading this thread im definitely gonna start doing it again.

If you dont really manipulate your hair after styling then I would have said its just normal shedding. You said long strands right? Do they have the white bulb on the end?

I really try to listen to my hair. I can't say that I always pre-poo, but maybe 3 out of 4 times, and if I'm lazy that may drop down to 2 out of 4 times. :)

pre-poo's ->Whenever I do them my hair feels so soft
clarifying ->Helps my conditioners/treatments take better.

some of them I do and others I can't tell......but some came out in groups...I can understand a bunch throughout my hair but it came out in one spot> I think my relaxed hair broke off of my unrelaxed new growth

oh yeah all in one spot...not good:ohwell:

Prepooing and EVOO has been a life saver since the month of April (bday) I really damaged my hair by coloring w Bigen and using heat. The next 3mos I'm definitely focusing on babying my hair.

Clarifying is one of those things I always forget about. I noticed that I use alot of cone heavy products and I really didn't notice that before. I clarified last night and I can feel the difference. My newgrowth is easier to manage and my hair is softer. I used to clarify every three weeks but I now do it every 3-4 washes. I don't use alot of shampoo, just a small squirt.
