Why doesn't she just refuse the curlyheaired clients outright, put a sign up naturally straight hair only.

hmmmm....the other day i went to a department store salon and this lady washed and braided (cornrowed) my hair in medium sized cornrows...didn't take longer than an hour (cos she was running from customer to customer but my hair really only took 45 actual minutes) my hair is midback and 3C with somewhat coiled new growth (3-4 inches) and she charged me $50!!!! I don't know if thats standard pricing for a department store salon but i was shocked! it cost me almost as much as a relaxer!  hmmm yall think she charged for length?

Thats a hot mess, charge by the type of service being done but I heard of something similar to that before. I had a friend who got micros and was charged more because her hair was real thick, which i thought was reasonable, but if ur hair nappy some extra money, thats ridiculus.. For me that would ring a bell to get a new stylist.

Doesn't Curve/Miss Jessie's charge this way?

Someone posted their experience there and looked at the computer screen as they were ringing her up and she was charged extra for kinkiness. Okay now that was either on LHCF/NP/NC. I get my forums mixed up these days lol.

lol wow thats jacked up...since their specialty is natural/curly hair, how the hell can they charge more for kinkiness? some other salons i understand maybe because they don't deal with it as regularly as curve/miss jessie...but that just don't make any sense to me

A coworker told me that she is natural and that her stylist charges more based on how kinky the woman's hair is.

Do you think this is fair?

it sounds sorta strange to me. i've heard of charging for longer hair (which i also think is ridiculous) but charging by the kinks sounds strange. do you get a discount for having straighter hair?

i guess it depends on the style. i had a stylist complain about my newgrowth before and charged me $5 to straighten it with a pressing comb :ohwell:

i think it al has to do with them capitalizing off of you, the customer...oh hell no they dont give a discount for straighter hair lol:ohwell: they just dont charge you extra for whatever service you receive!

i think all that is ridiculous and is just a way from capitalizing off of your poor customer...honestly though i wouldnt see a problem with it if they told you from the jump, as soon as you sat in the chair or came it that it would be extra...
