The ends of my hair are sun bleached, would that be damaging?

My hair has always been sensitive to the sun; it bleaches about 1-3 shades lighter in certain areas at times. Its not that noticeable since I've been using henna/indigo for a while, but I noticed now the ends, about 3" up from the end is lighter and now red from the henna. Almost in an "ombre" effect.

My question is, could that be damaging to the hair? My hair never did well with chemical bleaching and I'm afraid even this could screw up my hair and inhibit retention.

I think it is in a way especially since the gist of what is does is destroy the melanin in your hair. On top of that it has the potential to dry out your hair which can lead to splits and breakage. If you try protecting your ends with color treated conditioners or conditioners that have sunblock in them it will help. Henna is protecting on its own though as well so keeping that up is a good idea.

Thanks for the heads up! Though I do seal my ends with butter/oil daily, I may need to use something with more protection...
