Just trying to summarise people´s BKT results in one place.

Please respond to the poll and if you post say what brand you use.

Thanks!

I voted that BKT has made my hair more manageable. However, I don't know how legitimate my vote is, because I'm only heading into week 2 with my new Zene BKT'd hair!:look:

BKT is the bomb and it has made my hair so much easier to deal with. I've used Global Keratin 2% (used initially then subsequently tried Softliss) and Softliss and I've had the treatment since April 2009.

I've ordered QOD Gold and Coppola Keratin Smoothing Complex (I want Formeldahyde free treatments) and I'm trying to decide which one to do. :)

I BKT'd w/Global Keratin. My hair was much more manageable and I needed less product to are for my texlaxed curls.

BKT novice - used the DreamHair acai for the first try. I'm going to wait another 5 weeks or so and re-apply to my hair (natural, but pressed weekly).

is it overwhelming in fumes? Dreamhair was not. I notice very little if any fumes...I am a former smoker, though:look:.
and does anyone use a spray bottle?no, I did not use s spray bottle. the mixture was too thick for that.

what hair type are you? 3c/4a
is it overwhelming in fumes? No, used formaldehyde-free treatment
and does anyone use a spray bottle? No, too thick

It's been almost 30 days since my first treatment. I loooove it!

But the texlaxed hair is SUPER STRONG now and I have 0 split ends 12 weeks since my last trim.

And...(drumroll please)...after co-wash #14 - haven't used shampoo in more than a year, my hair is nearly back to it's natural curl pattern!

I am relaxed, although I guess you all would consider it texlaxed? My hair is not relaxed bone straight....

Early on this summer I BKT'd myself with QOD gold, and doll hair that dried super straight and shiny. Three long ocean swims did not reduce the effect. Two or three months after that I did it again on new growth, bringing it down to the ends.

My hair did retain length and grow longer; but the ends still got clipped away. I chose options, improved look and feel, made it more manageble, and helped to stregthen and retain length.

In the end I decided to stop the transition b/c the QOD did not stop the three inches of new growth from reverting, which is what I hoped for. I relaxed again, but the length of the hair is still really straight from the BKT.

If you want the stick straight hair, this here is for you.

oh cool.
i'm not even interested in BKTing i'm just curious but it's nice to hear it live up to the temporary claim because i've seen so many ladies do it with great results but not really heard anyone say or let their hair revert

My hair type is 3b/c. After the BKT I would say it's 3a/b but after a month or so it's almost back to my natural texture.

I do experience fumes. I seem to have sensitive lungs and when I accidently inhaled some of the fumes it really bothered me. But just being around smoke for a short period of time or accidently inhaling some hairspray bothers me as well. Oh and my for my first application my boyfriend helped me apply it and the fumes made both of our eyes water. So I would say try to do it in the most ventilated area possible.

I live in an apartment with a small bathroom that has no windows so I turn on the overhead fan and use a regular stand up fan to help blow the fumes out of my face. I also take breaks after each section and go out on the porch to get some fresh air so it's not so bad.

Do you mean a spray bottle to apply? Softliss is pretty thick so I don't think I could use a spray bottle.

I've used Softliss twice and I have retained almost if not all of my length in the 3/4 months I've had the treatment. My hair is more manageable and it seems softer cause the curl is loosened, and since the curl is loosened so much I am able to style it with my fingers and don't really need a comb. my hair is at least 3 inches longer than in is in my avatar. My bangs that I cut :( to my eyebrows are now half black half green and are down to my lip.

I love this stuff and will keep using it until the bottle is empty. I last used it last weekend, and I used such a tiny amount there weren't very many fumes I didn't even notice them until I was flat ironing around my face.

Thanks to all that responded.

I see that over 80 per cent said it made their hair more manageable, but only one~third said it made it stronger.

I'm looking for both improved strength and manageability. I guess one out of two aint bad!

I have had 4 BKTs since May. I checked better for length retention, manageability and look and feel improvements. I can't say one bad thing about the BKT. The Softliss was less effective on my natural hair (I'm 6 months post textlax). I like OK Keratin, and Global. I have yet to try Dreamhair (I have some waiting for me at home). I'm not sure how it could get any better, but I'll find out soon.

I didn't realize the poll was multiple choice until after I voted :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:. I picked the first answer, but I'd have to say manageability and appearance have definitely improved, too.

I have used Marcia Teixeira (salon), Softliss (at home, my NG is not down with it) and Global (at home also, loved it). I'd say my texture is 3a/3b, I think.

Use Global Keratin 4% for the 5th time about 5 weeks ago. Makes my hair very manageable and makes the texture softer. Love it don't intend to ever stop using it.

Don't know if its the BKT or just my reggie but I went about 4 months flatironing once a week (using a modified Ateyaaa Regimen) and I retained all my growth...

I used Coppola Keratin complex. Overall it made my hair extremely manageable. I'm normally a 4b. (At least I think who knows) My hair has been breaking but I can't say its due to the Keratin treatment. It could be left over damage from before but I didn't have all this short hair breakage before I did it. I'm just saying. Still i really like the outcome. Very smooth and straight and it saved my life because i had 5 months of new growth. I probably won't do it again for another 5 or 6 months after I do a semi- BC. I think its best to get rid of those spit ends before your treatment so you can really tell how it will affect your hair.

I love it. I have have done four softliss and my hair has retained it's lenght, I have stopped flat ironing and using the curling iron all together.

Does the treatment make the hair stronger, especially for fine or thin hair?

Fine-haired ladies, chime in!

Transitioning ladies, let's hear from you, too!!

Don't have fine hair, but I have been transitioning for 7 months. I BKT'd at 5 months and again a couple weeks ago. I love the fact that I don't have any breakage or splits, but it has made my hair BONE STRAIGHT. It stayed straight for about 3 or 4 weeks (12-14 cowashes) and then after DC one day, I noticed my hair was pretty much back to pre-BKT texture. Did another treatment a couple weeks ago and it's ridiculously straight. I'll probably wait 3 months before using it again...never been into flat hair.

:yep: it has for me! My hair is super duper fine and 4a/b natural; the kind of hair that normally would not allow such activities as wet bunning without breakage. I've often seen other fine haired sisters complain that daily cowashing did more harm for them than good.

I, however, did 4 BKTs over the summer and cowashed and wet bun nearly every day without breakage, single strand knots, mushy strands or any other such complaints. My hair thrived, too. For comparison I'll post a couple pics.

Below is my hair after my first BKT. I had been caring for my hair for 6 months and was sad to find that manipulation of my hair throughout that time had resulted in single strand knots that caused me to have to cut a couple inches to get most of them:

After the trim and three months of cowashing, wet bunning and occasional wash-n-gos my hair was thriving and remained knot free. I was happy to see that retention had improved greatly and the length that I'd lost was returned and then some.
