dontspeakdefeat for telling me about Stephanie. She was very nice stylist who did my hair here in the atl today. I realized that I had not had a retouch since October (I was transitioning and didn't even know it lol). I had some breakage going on (I will get into this later) and she told me and she asked me if she could cut it because I had already asked for layers. She asked me several times and made VERY SURE that I did not mind her cutting it. She said I know a lot of people want to hold on to their length so I also make sure it's okay with the client before I cut it
She gave me a nice layered bob style. It is so shiny and pretty. (I will post pics once I find my camera attachment to my phone) She used the affirm lye perm. Which leads me to my next two very sad revelations
...
1) My hair does not like no lye perms. I got the affirm sensitve scalp no lye relaxer the last time I got a retouch and even though at first it seemed okay, after about two weeks, I realized my hair was terribly dry and it was breaking.
2)Alas, my beloved Elucence shampoo....my natural hair DOES NOT like it at all. I realized that when I'm more than 6 or 7 weeks post relaxer, elucence makes my new growth feel as rough as a brillo pad
. Say it ain't so!
So now you're talking to a newly reformed getting her lye relaxers ON TIME girl from now on. At least until I decide to transition again
