I am so excited! I flatironed my hair last night and this morning a friend measured my hair in the back and I am 4 inches from my goal! I am so excited that I am ready to put my hair back into the loose ponytail I've been wearing.
I have been shampooing and rinsing almost daily(except when I wear it straight...(which isn't that often). Tonight I'm back to my rinse and go routine. I feel I will be at my goal by the end of the summer. I've added MSM to my arsenal to help me along. My sides are below shoulder...they have never been this long....sorry I got carried away. This forum has helped me so much. Thank you all!

Congrats, Sweetcocoa! You must be thrilled to see all of your hard work pay off. I'm still deciding what my goal is, seeing as how I've only been on the boards since January, but I hope to be that excited one day! If only I could get it together with these darn protein conditioners! *laughing*

How long was your hair when you started your hair journey? I noticed that you said in another post that you're now washing/rinsing daily. Did you notice an acceleration in growth when you started doing that?

I did a big chop(chin length) in February(2002), so this is 14 months. I get more growth in the summer which is why I started to take MSM and possibly biotin. I feel the combination of moisture(water), wearing it in a loose ponytail, and no heat have helped. The top 2 contributers being water and no heat....Before Feburary I had a lot of damaged and over processed hair that I eventually got rid of.
 
Chin length to 4" above BS.... now that's some GODDDD growth!!! I think I'm going to try and see how my hair does with more frequent shampooing/rinsing. I currently shampoo once a week and conditioner wash once a week. My hair has been acting kind of hard and dry lately (about the last 3 weeks). It dries hard (airdrying). It used to dry all soft. I used to love to feel on it. Now I don't. Last night I did a clarifying shampoo but it still dried hard. I'm really not sure what to try now.

I have a lot of new growth and another 4 weeks until my next touch up.

I know the extra water will keep it moisturized but I'm actually scared to see how the new growth will PUFF UP on me!

I should be thanking YOU! I've gotten some really great ideas from you (bonnet hair dryer, daily moisturizing, roller sets, etc.)

Congratulations on getting closer to your goal. Can't wait to see your pictures when you get there.

, now why can't my hair grow that fast, it will take me at least another year to get that far, if I am lucky. But that is truly remarkable, because I did my big chop around August 2001, but i have to do several trimming because of split ends.
