This may have already been touched upon, but what are you experiences with both of these. I have a text and I love it, but I miss the braids sometimes. Will this cause more breakage or is in just how you care for them?

I have a texturizer and I get braids all the time. I have never had any breakage issues. It's all about how you care for the hair, I washed once a week (with braids) I sprayed a strenghtner like Infusium 23 all over and I sprayed a braid spray all over as well but mainly focusing on my ends. You can shampoo the braids with little damage to your own hair by diluting the shampoo with H20 and if you want more helpful tips go to www.growafrohairlong.com. I've been texturized for a long time and I use braids as part of my protective style regime. Check out my album and you can see...no damage www.fotki.com/nubian7 password is hair.

I'm glad this topic was brought up ;) - and another thing I was wondering is:
If I texturize my hair while short - does this mean that I can't eventually grow it out long  On another forum, I was told that I should texturize when my hair actually grows out more if I plan on wearing it long

Someone please elaborate - Also, my very first texturizer didn't seem to take completely so when it's time to do a retouch, should I do the entire shaft of the hair or just the new growth? :(

i had a texturizer i started with about an half inch of hair and grew it out to about five-six inches before i cut again(i just love short hair), so i don't see why you can't grow it out

it sound like you need to do a corrective texturizer the next time, you will have to apply it to the part that did take as well as the new grow it would help if you had somebody to help you can also do a search i know there's a couple of threads on here about touch-up and corrective texturizing

Thanks so much ;) - I have been trying to search the forum to get some more opinions. If I'm not mistaking - CurlyCry, ModelChick and a few others have texturizers and obviously they have to do retouches. But I wonder how long their hair was when they first started. :perplexed

Anyway, if you were able to grow it out as long as you did - I don't see why I'd have any problems. :look:

make sure you moisturize and do hot oil treatments, as well as being careful not to overprocess you hair. co-wash every day or every other also helped me as well as protective style such as braids, scarves, wigs, phonytail(when my hair got longer) and doing searches on this board helped me grow my hair out
