Are any ladies who are texlexed having problems with stretching for a long time? Prior to my last relaxer(texlexed) I was able to stretch for 24.5 weeks without too much of a problem. Now I can't seem to not go without some major detangling going on. Last time I stretch I only had problems at 4 months, and they weren't major. I relaxed around the 7th of May and I'm having problems now. I'm seriously considering texlexing earlier though I wanted to wait till December or January, which will make me a biyearly relaxer.

Wow Bi Yearly is awesome if you can make it that long! I'm texlaxed and can not seem to get past 9 weeks or so! I get breakage and tangles if I try to pass this time frame its down hill. I hope u can find a few answers because it would help me too.

Thanks for the thread

I'm having the same problems as well? :perplexed I can't go anymore than 10-12 weeks without tangles and breakage.

abenyo, how do you make it that long (yearly or bi-yearly)? What type of relaxer are you using? How long are you leaving your relaxer on? TIA

Actually May was my first time texlexing. I was considering transitioning before than that's why I went so long, but I had the urge to relax and I did texlex instead.

I didn't have a problem stretching with bone straight relax hair but this texlexed hair is something else.

I think come September I will definitely put something to this hair of mine.

You're a super stretcher! i usually go from 13-16 weeks between relaxers. I usually dont have a hard time until the summer months then my hair gets extra difficult with me. I'm thinking that maybe because it seems to grow more in the summer or maybe the humidity. But co- washing more often pretty much helps me throughout my stretch.

I agree..I need something on my hair right now...I will try to wait until September.

I love texlaxing my hair because it is a lot thicker and stronger but when I was fully relaxed, I did not have any problems with tangles. I need to find a product that helps with major detangling. KeraCare Detangling Shampoo is great but I need a good conditioner as well because when I get past 10 weeks or more--the tangles are awful. :ohwell:

I was just going to post that the summer months for me are the worst. I figured it was due to the humidity. I will try to cowash more. Thanks!

I was contemplating transistioning until the humidity got me and I was 6 months stretched.

I am texturized, got first texturizer in the beginning of June, I was trying to make it till Sept. or October, but my roots are thick/hard and washing becomes a nightmare with the tangles - I feel like I am shedding more hair than I would like.

I've been texturized before, and I ONLY do wash-n-go and curly styles when it gets to this point. The only thing that helps me is Nacidit Tropical Coconut Rinse for detangling.

I'm texlaxed too. Been about 8 weeks since I was texlaxed. I'm noticing little tangles in my hair. kinda feels like dead hair is tangled up.

is this the same thing you ladies are experiencing? if so, do you think its because I need a touchup? I have four more weeks before I texlax and I have some serious growth.

Unfortunately, I cannot go past 10 or 11 weeks. My hair tangles and dreads at 6 weeks!

However, when I do relax, i only leave the relaxer on 5 - 10 minutes with minimal smoothing. Sometimes, no smoothing.

Hmmm. I was considering just doing wash and goes, but I'm afraid of how much I will suffer later.

I've been texlaxing for a little over 2 yrs now, just didn't know that's what it's called and was able to stretch for 6 months in between. I decided to shorten this time to 12-13 weeks because there just seemed to be too much going on in there and my hair still does well with a shorter stretch...I dreaded wash days and all I ever wore were buns because it just got t/b too much!! I think I was trying to see if I could transition to natural and the answer is a big resounding Hell to the NO!! The key, however is DC and finger detangling. This week I tried coating my hair especially NG in jojoba oil and scarfed up overnight then in the morning rinsed, poo'd and DC'd. The tangles melted away and I had so many waves I got seasick :lachen:I took pics, still need to add to Fotki.

I texlax once a year. I'm thinking of making it once every 4-6 months tho. Not because of tangles tho. I think I'd have more consistent results if I did it more often.

This is what I'm doing, it works great! I like that I only end up relaxing (texlaxing) 2-3 times/year......not bad! :yep:

YOUR LOOK ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS, GIRL!! :clapping::notworthy:

I'm loving the hair. I also wonder how it is so easy for texlaxers to stretch. I admire you ladies. I am stretching for 5 months, but I'm transitioning to once every 6 months. This was a graduate process. I started with 3 months, 4 months, now 5 months and next time 6 months and thereafter.
