Do you?

I love tendrils, esp. when doing updos. I think it adds such a feminine touch.

I cannot. The hair around my perimiter is short and super tight.
if i tried it would just look like a big ol buckshot lol

Has anyone with 4a/b hair gotten the tendril look on unstreched hair? Pics please!

I would foolish if i tried. I'm sure they are both different lengths because I play with them, and they would stick up.

 i would look so dumb if i tried this. eventually it would just shrink up and poof out.

This is the closest I ever got to having tendrils. I love them too but can never get them to look more naturally tendrilly...you know what I mean lol.

Your hair looks great!!!

I know what you mean about making them look natural. When I wear them, I make sure they are placed just right or it doesn't look so great.

i like tendrils in the back, but not really in the front....sometimes i leave a few out intentionally, but most of the time some of the shorter pieces slide out of my ponytail during the day and i just leave it like that because its cute lol

when they look natural and not intentional...like tendrils shouldn't have parts, lol.

I LOVE tendrils! I put them in my hair all the time...and I'm 4a.

I like tendrils. I sometimes do them w/hair that I've done a twist out or bantu knot out on.

yes, tendrils definitely add a soft, feminine touch when placed right, esp. the soft whispy ones in front... I think men like them too. :yep:

ummm @Hairsnob how did you do this style?!

I love this!!!

@Curlybeauty

I wear this style a lot but I could never get it to look exactly like this again. I thought I posted a tutorial but I can't find it. I think I saved it on my work PC though so I'll attach it when I go back.

Here is an old post where I mentioned how I did it though.

Faking the fullness with this one.
My hair is much shorter in the crown area and this style is great to create the illusion of fuller hair.
I just rolled my hair in about ten big rollers with the back rolled flipped up and got in the shower. Took them out minutes later and fingerstyled into this updo.
The trick is not to pull all of your hair up into the middle at once. Take the sides and pin together in the middle loosely. Then Take the back section and fold it up towards the top (like giftwrapping a present). Your ends will be tucked under the barrette and it makes it appear longer.

They make me look grandma-like and old-fashion. :nono: Plus ya see this lady named Ms.Lorraine with the baby hair and tendrils was kinda HOish. And always think of her ways when I see them hanging on someone's head. :lachen: yea yea call me crazy.

I want to do them, but the hair in the front is too long so it just looks silly.
I've thought about cutting some "bangs" just to be able to wear tendrils in the front.
It definitely softens the whole appearance of a bun or a ponytail. :yep:
Very cute.

My hair is getting longer too, and I really want to cut a few pieces of my hair so that it doesn't look awkward. My tendrils looked the best when my hair was 6-9" long.

Isn't that funny how we associate certain things with being tacky.

I feel the same way about ankle bracelets. I think they are cute, but when Iwas coming up, the prostitutes use to wear them, so I could never get myselft to buy one.

I do this sometimes after I've done a good rollerset with volume, one or two at the side and one at the nape and the rest of the hair pulled into a loose bun. It looks really elegant.

I finger coil my tendrils with product or it won't lay right. I like them on other people but mine always comes out weird. Perhaps with more length it'll look better.
