All these posts about flat irons frying hair have me shook.. so I was wondering to those of you who have ceramic flat irons, what temperature do you set yours on? I'm getting a Sedu Ionic Ceramic flat iron.. so I just wanted to know for future reference. Thanks.

Sorry, I can't offer a temperature. I have a Jilbere and I flat iron on 20. I will look closer to my packing and let you know what that translates to in degrees ... approx.

I have an FHI--It goes as high as 450 degrees...but i keep it at 370 closer to touch up time...300 right after a touch up...when i had color in my hair...i put it lower than 300....and i haven't fried my hair at all..hope that helps!

ditto. But mostlly 370 b/c of my thick hair.

thank you ladies, i think i will use mine at around 300.. even though my hair is on the thick side.. better safe than sorry :)

This is what I do when I used to flat iron my hair, I would test to see if iron was too hot by testing plates (hot) on a towel or a paper towel. If towel or paper towel burned or got singed then I knew it would be too hot for my hair.

I have a ceramic flat iron by hot tools...I think my hair straigtens well on a 5 setting if I do it in very small sections :)

what is 10-15? I have a Sedu. I dont know what that is.

The dial setting on my Jilbere ceramic that I use to straighten my hair. The highest setting is 25. I have no idea what the corresponding temperatures are.

Mine has numbers and not temp settings but what I do and I think a good rule to follow is just use 1/2 of the max temperature/setting on your hair and you should be good. I've never had a problem when doing this. I only use the full strength on my weave hair. HTH.
