Taking down Micro braids

I usually condition wash my hair. Leave it saturated with conditioner and they loosen up for me to slip them out. But this technique is for micros braided an inch or less. HTH.

I haaated taking them down when I use to wear them. But I also agree with the soaking in conditioner method

Be sure to detangle each braid after you take them down. I dont use conditioner but I do saturate the braids with braid spray or the marketed take down spray. Start in the center so if you stop you can ponytail or bun.

Use a cheapie conditoner like VO5 to saturate your head with the condish and put a plastic shower cap on your head leave on for a hour or two. If your hair has the knots in make sure to clip them. Next take a comb and comb the hair out. Takes me all of 15 mins to remove the braids. I cut just below my have as well.

@LeftRightRepeat bumping the "How to prevent matting thread" for you. I review it every time I get braids. Definitely a go to thread. In addition I second what @SunySydeofLyfe said about starting in the middle so you can do a pony tail or bun in case you get tired and take a longer break than intended.

Usually I apply a conditioner with nice slip to hair. I section my hair and apply an ample amount of conditioner. Then knock out each session. Make sure you comb out the dirt/hair ball from the strand. Usually takes me a 5-6 hours depending on how small my micros are.

Sometimes I call a friend over to help. We catch up on stuff and watch The Game marathon to help it go faster...lmao

The center is taken down first. You may have to go somewhere before you get finished. Then you pull up the outer region. No one told me this. I ended up taking four days off of work and getting a 20 day suspension...........

Be sure to have a decent seamless comb too. Comb each piece after its loose. Do a few more then comb that chunk. I prefer fine tooth for this. I've worn micros for 25 years off and on and never had a matting problem with this technique.
