No, you're not trippin! Well, the most that I've even heard about caucasian hair being "straightened" on TV is when they talk about the sixties when they ironed their hair to get it like Cher's. Or, with now, flat ironing. But it really isn't advertised on TV straightening methods on a more permanent basis. I remember back in the 70s though, they had commercials for VO5 and actually showed a professional stylist putting the oil on the patron's hair (caucasian) to tame frizzies! I do know of a couple of Jewish women who get an affirm perms because their hair is frizzy and kinky. You'd never know it relying on TV, but in reality, there are many people of "other races" that have kinky/curly hair too. Not just some blacks. My family knew a Sicilian guy who was the son of a neighborhood restaurant owner whose hair was definite 4a/b! Go figure!

You aren't tripping but they are not buying it like we are. So you have to target the audience that is your bread and butter.

actually there is plenty of perm for people with straight hair that want it straighter or curlier or they just get a mild perm ... plus there are other methods that are less harsh for their hair to get it the way they want ... i see alot of commercials on getting that ttype of hair straighter or curlier.

Most people who use relaxers are black. Isn't it around 90% of black women who relax their hair? We definately have the most demand for them and the majority of these companies' earnings come from blacks. That's who they're selling it to.

Just a thought!

As far as I know very few caucasians uses relaxers( if I know). They do use permanent waves to get their hair permenently curl (that what they refer to as "perm"). And, those who have naturally curly hair can just blowdry it straight or use a flat iron to get it straight. like blazn_ballerine said there are new methods out there to get their hair straight for a longer period of time then blow drying would allow but they aren't relaxers. So they don't really have a use for relaxers.

I know a few non-AA's (like 2) who relax but the majority of relaxers users are of the AA persuasion....they know what they are doing the relaxers manufacturers aren't going to waste money marketing to a few when they have a huge group to focus their ads on.
