Do you just wear your hair straight down all the time or do you leave it wrapped up???

i also PM'ed you with more questions...hope it's not too much! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi, /images/graemlins/smile.gif I wear it straight down everyday. I wrap it when I'm going to sleep or just in the house doing nothing. Sometimes I leave it wrapped entire weekend if I'm stuck in the house.

I do have somewhat of a dry scalp because I never put anything on it. Everything is tooo heavy. I figure thats the price I have to pay to get it long.

Also, I made a mistake in my earlier post, I meant to say I moved from NY to DC in 1997. Not the other way. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hi everyone!! Thank you sooo much for the welcome and the compliments. I have been lurking for awhile and I must say I love this board and how everyone supports each other. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

My regimen:

I have been wrapping my hair every night for 16 years.

Its always been long but in 1995 I cut it all off and was sporting the short Halle Berry. It was hell growing out. Finally it grew back by 1997.

I have never worn braids, I never wear any type of styles.

I moved to NY from DC in 1997.

I go to the Dominicans for my touchup and do my own hair in between.

The Dominican salons I go to are Lucy Dominica in Arlington , Va, Giovani's in Adams Morgan-They don't put in the perms right sometimes, and Renees in Adams Morgan. They do my hair the best but are the priciest.

I wash once a week with KMS daily Clarifying shampoo or Joico moisturizing shampoo.

I condition with either Neutrogena daily deep conditioner, Nexxus Humectant or Loreal color vive mask.

Then I put on a plastic cap and leave in for 3-4 hours. Sometimes I sleep with it and rinse out the next day.

After I rinse I leave wet and put in John Frieda frizz ease xtra strength relax serum. (can't live without this)

Then, I blow dry and wrap.

I get a touchup ever 5-6 weeks.

I use either Creme of Nature-Lye or No Lye and Optimum.

I have it trimmed every 4-5 months.

I never ever brush it. I use wide tooth combs to comb and wrap it. I never hot curl it. I wear the same style everyday.

I use Sebastian polishing drops for shine.

I am getting it blunt cut this week.

I might chop of 3-4 inches. I want it all even. The back is so much longer then the front.

I was just wondering 2 years later is your regimen still the same? If not, what's different?

no its changed somewhat

My hair broke off right after this thread was posted...lol

-I don't get touchups every 6 weeks anymore. I get them every 13-14 weeks now.
-I don't get trims every 5-6 months, I get them every 8-10mths now
-I don't wrap hair anymore, I just leave hair hanging straight down and tie it up like thatw/o having to comb
-I switched from Creme of Nature -no lye to Optimum-No Lye
-I don't use Sebastian drops anymore, I use NTM Serum
-I still wear the same style everyday..lol
-Been to lazy to deep condition for like 3 hours, only DC once a month.

I was reading this thread from the beginning like  Sylver isn't new. Then, I looked at the date and realized it was from 2004! Your hair's just become more and more lovely though.

Sylver, your hair is still as beautiful as ever even though you changed up the routine a little! (one of the first albums i stalked/studied when i joined the board)....If you don't mind my asking, why did you stop wrapping? Was it to cut down on the manipulation? So when you tie it up do you just cover the top up and leave the back hanging out before going to bed?

Thanks in advance:)

Yes, I stopped wrapping to cut down on manipualtion. Thats my #1 key Low Maintenance, low manipulation
So now when I go to bed yes I do tie it up and cover the top up and leave the back hanging out, then I put the hanging part in a big loose satin bonnet which is positioned halfway on my head. So hair is the exact same when i wake up. Dont have to comb it or anything. Just wake up and go:-)
