Hey Ladies,

How's it going? We are finally at the halfway mark...it isn't so bad, right :look: ? Have you seen any progress? Made any modifications to your planned regimen? Post any accomplishments, complaints, thoughts, whatever, here :). Stay encouraged, everyone!

Oh...my answers...I started CO washing once a day rather than twice...my roots were ridiculous. I haven't seen any progress with regard to length, although my new growth has clearly had a spurt. I took pictures this morning, and I'll do a side by side comparison to see if I see a change later. I'm not very optimistic, though. I am also having mucho shedding. So yeah...other than that, I guess it's going alright :look:. And you :) ?

Hi girl, i've been on the surge challenge since March 2004, i've noticed a lot of growth plus i haven't been taking any vitamins. I usually apply it to my scalp twice a day. the only modications i've made is that i wash my hair 2-3 times a week using the curly girl method. the only complaint is that, it sometimes breaks my skin out if it drips on my face, neck or back.

Have you tried Motions CPR or Affirm 5 in 1, i've used them effectively for shedding issues, i'm certain your making more progress than you currently think you are. Good luck!!

I must be making progress because I need to touch up my color already. It's barely been 4 weeks! My edges are really gray. This sme thing happened between Thanksgiving and Christmas. NOT good for someone like me who is trying to hang on to her youth...lol!

I try to surge at least once a day...but so far I only managed 3-4 times a week. I am in weave now and it's made my life so much easier, but I tend to forget about my hair. But I am taking my vitamins, washing 2 times a week and mosturizing my hair and scalp 2-3 times a week. But I have not been on this website as much as before (when I use to live on here), because I am in a weight loss forum and a stop smoking forum as well...All three helps to keep me focus on a better lifestyle in health. Now I need to work on spiritual.....

I had to jump off the Surge bandwagon. It just made my already dry and damaged spot more dry and brittle. The S-curl and oils seem to be what my hair needs. Good luck to the rest of you though!

thats great girl where is the stop smoking forum i really need to join something like that!!

i know you guys are doing great with the challenge good luck on the second half!!!

I had to get off the challenge also, I use to be able to surge twice a day. But now I'm too busy I don't have the time to do it twice a day.

I am seeing great progress with surge. At this point I only see thickness in my hair but by end of mouth I know there will be growth also. I love this product since all you have to do is spray and go. :lachen:

WOW, Den...I didn't know you had been surging that long! That's awesome...btw, I sat here for like two minutes fawning over the pic in your signature . Hopeful, tene, I'm sorry, but I understand it can be difficult to continue for several reason :). LOL @ good2uuuu...well, it's good you can see your progress, though . Hottopic, it sounds like you have a great deal of good things going on, so I say good for you for still managing to surge at all. Thanks Dshy :)! Congrats, star..I'm sure you will see growth by the end as well . Thanks for checking in, ladies!

I joined this challenge on day 2 ( I believe). Anywho, I have been consistent at spraying my scalp at night, & spraying my hair in the morning (Surge gives my hair a wonderful gloss in the a.m.).

As for growth, I can't tell. My new growth is curly/wavy...my hair is curly/wavy... I simply can't tell what's "new" growing in & what was already there  . Taking pics wouldn't help cuz of my shrinkage. So I've concluded that the only way I'm gonna be able to see if Surge really works on my head is to use Surge over a loooong period of time... then I should be able to do a "side by side pic" comparison

Hi Dreemsold, yep i've been surging on and off for a while now, and it seems to be working okay, i can't wait to see new updates of your progress, you have some awesome hair ends to die for.

I have been surging twice a day but, I can't tell if there is any growth. The only thing I'm sure I see is a increase in shedding. I ordered the ultramax from Paynes Beauty Supply and I have decided to use that instead of the spray until the challenge ends to see if I like that product any better. I noticed the ingredients were similar. Thanks for asking us how we were doing! :)

Hey Dreems,

I'm still going too. I've noticed that my new growth has gotten thicker, and I'm starting to have a bit more shedding as well. Honestly, I'm tired of walking around with wet hair  but I'm going to keep going to see if I have any progress. My next relaxer will be in Feb so I should be able to measure the progress fairly easily then.

Don't you get discouraged! I'm sure you'll be happy with your growth in the end!
SG

You're welcome, princess...feel free to bump the thread with any progress at any time...I am really interested in how it's going for everyone. Thanks, den ...my hair wants to be like yours when it grows up ! Peachtree, that was part of the reason why I suggested wet pics, stretched pics, etc, for the naturals, but I didn't even consider how that probably wouldn't do much good for naturals with your shrinkage and length  ...I agree, it will probably be hard for us to see any change in such a short time, but I am SO looking forward to the long-term progress pics !

ETA: Hey SG ...I was sick of wet hair, too...daily washing has helped a little, though. I can't wait to see your post relaxer pics...I KNOW you will have progress ! Thank you--I am feeling a little less discouraged, now...I think I see some progress, and I had to remind myself, this is just the halfway point! Signed-Optimism's Poster Girl  .
Welcome back on board, desperategirlie ! Congrats on the new gig and move, too :).

I had to take a break from Surging for a week because between moving and starting a new job it was too much. Now that I"m settled. I'm doing a protein treatment right with Emergencee and then Humectress. I'll be surging it afterwards. I'm back on the bandwagon. I did notice less breakage when I was surging twice a day.

Not officially on the challenge but I did start surging a little before you started. I don't seem to have a whole lot but I'm not worried about it, I think it's just because I'm paying attention. I'm in cornrows right now because I'm busy and it's easier to use surge this way instead of trying to part all over my scalp every day, twice a day.
I want the hair that that "stylist" took from me, and I want it NOW dangnabbit! So I'm going to keep spraying, at least until I've used up the bottle.

OK LADIES!! I had my touch up today, couldnt hold out another week! LOL!
Anyway... this is what I thought of my results.

1) Because my scalp has been so moist majority of the time, I think my relaxer not necessarily burned me, but it was different. I dont think my scalp was as tough as it normally is.

2) My relaxer took really well! I love it! I dont know if I can blame it all on surging, but my hair looks really healthy! Maybe it was a combo of all the CW and every other day poo's with Surge!

3) I cant find the bra I normally measure with, so I had to get another and with the new bra, I have about .5 inches away from bra strap! If I can find my old bra I have been using, I think I am there!

4) I waited 4 days after surging to get my touch up. I think I will make sure I wait a week to help with scalp issue.

I will try to post pics of my relaxer in the morning. I have to cook dinner and I am running behind schedule!

Anyway, I think surge did help considering I had a trim and still manage to see some added growth! So I am going to stay on the surge bandwagon, but I wont start again until about 3 or 4 weeks into my relaxer. Good Luck Girls!!

:)

Mrslee,

Congrats on reaching your goal  I think the .5 inches is as a result of wearing a different bra. I'm SURE you're there :)

Ditto, mrslee...ITA.

LOL @ UmSumayyah...I'm sure as soon as you stop paying attention, you'll have it back in no time. I'm guilty of trying to watch the pot boil all the time, myself :look:.

I got a touch up on Saturday but I have still been surging twice a day. I colored on christmas and I need a touch up already in the front so I guess its working...

Im gonna try my best to have some pics up by the end of this week

I had to jump off the Surge bandwagon :( Something about the product just doesn't agree with me. I don't like the way it makes my hair feel, and no matter how much I was or moisturize, it still feels that way. Not to mention the fact that I really don't like walking around with wet hair twice a day, lol. I've gone back to using my Sulfur 8 and Glovers Mane for growth...it's what I know and love :) Best of luck to all that are still in it!

Hugs,
Crys

P.S. If anyone wants a barely used bottle of Surge, it's all yours!

I stopped using my surge for a good long while until this challenge. I surged and moisturized(with sta-sof-fro or carefree curl) for 3 weeks. This week I decided to flat iron instead of surge. My hair feels so beautiful. I can't stop touching it. I know it has to do with the extra moisture and possibly the surge. I did notice that I have less shedding due to the surge. My newgrowth is slightly softer. The surge makes my my hair more manageable. I haven't noticed any growth but I did cut about 1 inch off though. I'm ready to start surging and bunning again. This is a great time for me to do this since my head is always covered in the cold weather. I'm not usually a pony tail girl.

Mocha, we're sad to lose you, but I know exactly what you mean. My hair feels crazy sometimes and I know it's because of the Surge. I spend more time than a little bit adding moisture back into my hair. The past day or so it's gotten better. I don't know if it was an ACV rinse that helped or washing once a day rather than twice, I don't know, but I completely understand hopping off. You have to listen to your hair :). HHG!

lea, I am happy it's working so well for your hair...softer new growth . My feels like a concrete slab ! Thanks for posting your progress and happy Surging !
