I have been here about 4 week.
I love all of the information :yep:
But I am a little sad today, I am ready to add a little length.
I cut my shoulder length hair and Feb this year into a bob.
Stylist did not do a good job:nono:
So for the last few months I am attempting to grow at least
to my shoulders (first goal).

I think I am sad because I now realize that I need moisture and protein
stay away from the heat, do not trim every 6 week, do not relax every
6 week. Ant that my stylist was not helping me get to APL.

I have learned so much-- I am soo ready--- Waiting for results:look:

I thought today that I should stay way from this board until the end
of the year so I could show progress-- growth --- some changes.

I think I need some hair support

A big thing is that your hair looks healthy so that is a major step in the right direction.. Apply what you know and you WILL see results. I too had to come to the realization that I need to stop trimming so often. I think my hair is either shorter or the same length as when I started last year b/c of the trimming. It’s a slow process so don’t beat yourself down over it.

Its okay we are here to support you.
I think we all feel the same way as if it is a phase. You know what to do and how to get there Just Patience. You will make! We can Make it!

Hi Hot40, I'm sorry that you are feeling sad right now. I'm not in the position to give you any hair advice, but I can be here for you morally.

Don't be sad lady, just soak up all the info like a sponge and find out what works for you.

The good part.....You know going to your stylist and totally leaving your hair in her/his hands weren't the answer for your hair. You are now on the path to discovering what works for you and loving your hair. :love5:

Now, stop all this crazy talk about staying away. It's baby steps. All baby steps. None of us grew hair overnight. We are here to support and help one another. Happy Hair growing. Just know, You can do it! :grouphug:

Great words of encouragement! I'm a newbie, too, but I have seen slow and steady progress in the last 2 months. I think that besides the advice, the best thing about this board is inspiration. That's why I log on at least once a week- to look at everyone's beautiful hair (natural/ relaxed, long, and short) and how healthy each person's hair is. So, keep logging on because it will remind you that you CAN achieve your goals.

Yeah just hang in there, figure out what works FOR YOU, stick to it, and have patience.

As the health of your hair improves, length and retention will surely soon follow. Enjoy your hair at each length and through this entire process. No need to hide until the end of the year, we don't seclude anyone around here because they are of a certain length, instead we all support each other! Before you know it, you'll be at your one year mark and will have made some great gains. I can't imagine where my hair would be without this place! Likely still hiding under a weave, uncared for, and being handled by another SHS. In the 8 1/2 mons since joining, my hair has thrived! Yours will too!

Don't be discouraged. When I first started I focused on health and the length came. Your hair looks healthy so just be patient.

Thanks to all of you I was filling down this weekend.

I found a photo taken three years ago-- looking at it now
my hair was a great lenght. If you had asked me I would have
said not so great at that time -- but looking at this picture
I think I can get back there again --- I did not own a flat iron at that time
