Hi Ladies,

I washed my texlaxed hair yesterday with Keracare products and it took me half an hour to detangle with Salerm 21, this use to be perfect but now its not working. I wash in 6 braids and dont manipulate it much but because its underprocessed the hair just mats together, and to make matters worse, once I have detangled and part and slightly move the hair, it tangles again!!! I am at the end of my teather and need some recommendations, especially from texlaxed and 4a/b naturals.....

Thank you

Hi Lonei I know how you feel. Had the same problem with detangling my fine relaxed hair. It wood matt at every occasion so i was terrified to fingercomb moreless pass a comb through it, until I came across Den1's Super Conditioning Spray, which you can find in her New hair site.(Thank you Den 1) I just saturate the hair with the conditioner and then comb through and it works like a dream. A miracle. It also gives the hair a nice oily feel, not to heavy because my fine hair can't take to much oil. Any way i will stop my ranting.
I can only recommend that you try it and see.

Good luck

The best detangler I've found so far is Elucence MB conditioner used as a leave in. That stuff does wonders for me. Dove Replenishing Mist is pretty good also.

Does she make it herself?

I have to comb my hair in the shower while I am rinsing out my conditioner. The conditioner has to be reeeallly good to detangle MY crow's nest. I make sure I part my hair down the middle instead of wearing it all back (decreases detangling time). Oh, and I wash my hair in sections too. Yes, it's time consuming but if I don't do it this way, washing is a waste of time.

Good Luck Lonei.

I just discovered this detangling in shower method about a week ago and my hair has never been so manageable. I do it in 2 sections as well. :)

Biolage has the best detangler, I used it when I was natural but Lonei, your hair is GORGEOUS.

Thanks Anky, I do this already (washing in sections) but it still doesnt help. It will NOT detangle under the shower!!!!!!

Thanks but it is not GORGEOUS to manage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I use Cream of Nature shampoo when my hair is really really tangled. Sometimes I have to lather twice before my comb glides through while rinsing under the water. Sometimes CON works better for me at detangling than the best conditioner.

My hair used to be very tangle prone... The best conditioners I've tried for this are Kenra MC and ORS replenishing pak... that stuff is no joke and leaves my hair looking and feeling great!

I used to texlax (70%) and I find that relaxing to about 85% works best for me. I dont have any tangles and my hair is easier to manage. Plus my hair is shinier (you obviously dont have problems with your current method because you hair is GORGEOUS) To get to 85% I just smooth the relaxer and let it sit for an extra 3 minutes...

My hair is texturized also, what helps in detangling in the shower with a wide toothed comb starting from the root to tip. PM detangler also helps ;)

Pantene Light Conditioning Detangling spray helps. But nothing really helps for me that well. I detangle under the shower and that works good too, but it takes me too long and by the time I am finished my hair feels stripped!

I recently texlaxed and it has been a struggle for me as far as the tangling goes. I am just going to go back to relaxing bone straight :(

During my transition, my detangling sessions took a while.

I would separate my hair into six sections (three on each side, thickness of braids based on my differing textures) then I would slather on a mixture of conditioners (all low protein--protein based conditioners make my hair more tangled) along with either molasses/honey and either castor/olive oil/vatika oil/shea butter. I would heat in the micro for a few seconds and then apply to each section and braid. I would slip on a shower cap and gold mylar cap for a minimum of 30 minutes. I would then unbraid each section, rinse in warm and scrub scalp really well, then rinse under cold. Then use my D4 brush gently from root to tip to detangle under running water (I could only do this process in the sink or bathtub). Then I would rebraid that section and move onto the next.

After all that, I would again unbraid each section a final time to add my leave in condish and rebraid, add grease to the ends and add a flexirod.

No more matting, and no more excessive shedding. Only thing is that it makes for a long wash session.

I am texlaxed and have had many issues with tangling and knots. What has helped me tremendously is using an ACV rinse (Frederik Fekkai's) before I shampoo. I also have a few products which really loosen the tangles: Biosilk Silk Strate leave-in (for rollersets and blowdrying), Ojon Restyling Mist, and Salerm Super Activo Drops. I recently tried Kerastase Lait Nurtri-Sculpt and that also loosens my tangles for comb-outs. But, above all, ever since I started the ACV rinsing before I shampoo, sometimes even after, I have reduced the tangles and eased comb-out significantly. HTH.

Kenra Moisturizing Conditioner. I keep two liter bottles in my closet at all times. It got me through my 2 YEAR transition. It never fails me in getting knots and dred locks out of my hair. Works nicely as a co-wash if you massage it in a bit and run your fingers thru your hair.

This is what I do in order to get my hair to detangle really well...I have to be under running water...that always works...
Also a good detangler,IMO, when times get rough lol...is Giovanni Direct leave-in.

Lonei,

As I told you earlier I am dealing with MASSIVE tangles also. So today I did something. I don't know how I missed this because almost everyone loves this line.

Keracare Detangling shampoo and Humecto conditioner. I don't know how the end results on dry hair is, because I am DCing now as I type. But I washed with the 1st lather shampoo, detangling poo, and slathered on some humecto. My hair detangled with a Breeze!!!!! I didn't even have to wash in sections!

Please if nothing else try this. It made detangling obsolete for me.

I don't have any problems detangling my hair and it doesn't matt or stick together at all. The only time I ever had tangled, stuck together hair was when I did a pre-poo with Keracare Essential Oils either last year or in 2004. I had the hardest time trying just shampooing my hair (I didn't dare comb it) so I understand what it can be like. Since that time, I've not had a detangling problem.

I detangle under the force of the shower while rinsing off my conditioner (I deep condition with Humectress), starting from the ends and working up. I use the Jilbere shower comb and it works very well for me.

After getting out of the shower, I apply Nexxus Headress (creamy) or Biolage Leave-in Hair Tonic (watery) and both give me great slip. My comb slides through with hardly any or no hairs in the comb.

I pray you find a great, easy solution to your tangling situation Lonei. :yep: When you do you'll experience much more freedom and peace of mind with your already gorgeous hair!!:)
