Sun Lightening?

I've heard people say that thier hair gets lighter in the summertime and is darker in the winter.

My question is, how would one's hair get naturally darker after it has been lightened? Isn't that impossible?

I have 7 inches of hair and the last inch or so is a shade or two lighter than the rest... I know that it's something that happened last summer and it has stayed.

My hair gets sun kissed every summer. Right now I have these red streaks all over my head. My hair is naturally dark, but when wintertime comes the red streaks are still there but not as noticeable. I assume it has to do with the sun not being as bright in a the wintertime.

It's possible. My best friend's hair turns blondish red in the summer, but in the winter it goes back to dark brown. Weird I know, but it happens.
