My alopecia is back! My hair was doing so good and it was growing in the back so well. Last week I started to shed long strands of hair and the place where I experience the alopecia started acting up. I went to the doctor and got a shot of cortisone and some medication but was unable to stop the loss of hair. The medication seemed to be working, but now my scalp is very irritated.

I am crying and so frustrated with my hair. I wanted to weave it all up for the next year and let it grow back out, but luvlonghair, who is a stylist in Charlotte is going to help me nurse it back to health. I tried using the oil concoction on it, but I still lost the hair. I know it is a process that my hair seems to cycle through each year, but I was hoping with my new found knowledge I could prevent it, but I couldn't.

I realized that I may never have BSL hair, (unless I wear a weave:lol:), but I would just like healthy, strong hair on my head. If anyone knows of a new treatment for this condition, please let me know. Meanwhile, please keep a good thought for me. I love this board and can't thank you enough for all your help.

Carol, Im sorry to hear that your alopecia came back:( . Dont worry girl, Im sure Luvlonghair and you will work out something until you get your issue under control. Just hang in there, chica.:)

Maybe you should also see a dermatologist. They may be able to prescribe something to help with your alopecia. If it is a mild form you may be able to use some of the over the counter DHT blocker or Rogaine type products.

Good Luck!
