My finances are running low and I was wondering...in case I cannot repurchase my keracare humecto this time around, does anyone know a oh.....around 5 dollar sub that I can use with just as much (well...at least close) amount of slip? Muchisimas Gracias!!!
Thanks Supergirl! I used this product years ago and have not tried it in a while.
dontspeakdefeat - I tried the Clairol 5x. The results were okay but I think I was looking for more moisturization and slip from the Clairol having used Humecto. I am glad it's working well for you!

It's like my conditioners did the big switch! My humecto is not giving me that usual slip and softness but the Clairol is! Go figure

I'm going to have to try the Clairol. Humecto is not doing anything for me right now. Thanks for the tip donkspeakdefeat!

Your welcome! I believe it makes your hair stronger just like it says. Next trip to Walmart I have to get more. This is great for my daily co washes. I may even try it as a deep conditioner when I wash my hair this Saturday!
I've liked the Clairol Renewal 5X conditioner for awhile also, only I got the one for colored/permed hair. It detangles so well after only a few minutes on my hair! (Makes the tub slippery when I rinse out, though...) The chemical smell isn't as nice as the Rusk Sensories Calm Guarana & Ginger 60 Second Hair Revive conditioner that I got for $12 at the salon on Saturday, but the $3 price of CR5X can't be beat! Both claim to strengthen, so I'll alternate for a while.
I kinda like the CR5X leave-in Daily Nourishment. Great slip again due to the thin consistency. Allandra's rec, I think. Have you tried it? But it does NOT make my hair airdry shiny and moisturized LOOKING, even when I mix it with oil. Gotta have the look.
Motions oil moisturizer hair lotion does this with lots of the dreaded mineral oil.
Next time I am at Ulta I will check out the Rusk SCG. Sounds great. I think I may also take a look at the CR5X leave-in when I go to Walmart. I am a conditioner junkie! I love the Clairol 5X for dry hair. Thanks for the tips!
I've never used Keracare so I don't really know how it compares, but I really like the Aussie Moist too. It gives me nice slip. Another conditioner that made my hair super silky is the John Frieda Frizz Ease conditioner (I think it's called Glistening Cream). This is NOT the one from the Relax line, it's the one from the original line. I tried it long time ago when there was only one Frizz Ease line (now they have original, extra strenth, and the relax line). That conditioner gave me MAD SLIP. By the time I finished the bottle they had come out with the Relax line so I tried that. In my opinion it isn't as good as the original. I really should go back to that stuff. I loved that line.
I agree wholeheartedly with Motions Moisture Plus for a substitute for Keracare, actually I think the Motions does better for my hair. I am not a big fan of the Motions line, but this condition is a great deep moisturizing conditioner. I also like Allways' Natural Conditioner Moisturizing Formula. I use this conditioner for my condition washes. It doesn't have the best smell in the world, but it is enriched with indian hemp, rosemary, sage and vitamin E, paraffin oil, olive oil, sesame oil and wheat germ oil, amongst other non-threatening ingredients. Towards the middle, it also has honey, aloe vera and lanolin. It does a great job of moisturizing my hair after workouts and provides a silky, sheen with detangling properties.
I have never had luck with the Motions line. I have a lot of friends and family members who swear by it. And since Keracare is a personal favorite of mine, I am tempted to go to Sally's today and check this one out...
I've tried Clairol 5X for dry hair. It's actually not bad for a "grocery store" hair product and the ingredient list is very good.
The reason I recommended Moisture Plus as a sub for Keracare is because it kind of looks and feels the same, has similar ingredient, and also feels the same on the rinse-out.
Clairol 5X actually has some similar ingredients to the Keracare Super-Reconstructor though. Go figure!
