how do ya'll do this?!?!? everytime i try after my co washes, my hairline and sides just puff out. i'm trying to stretch my relaxer and so far my last was in may so i have ALOT of new growth about 4b..scratch that 10z. so when i try to put it in a bun or ponytail when wet, all i get is a nice style with my hairline and sides puffed out forming..a kind of afro and it makes my head look all funny.

i try to slick it down by puttin a scarf on for about a half an hour, but it still does it, UNDER THE SCARF!! i don't get it. what can i do?

What products do you use after your co wash? The only thing that keeps my hair nice and flat but still moisturized all day is curl activator gel. I'm loving Worlds of Curls right now. I also put a little gel (maybe 1-2 TBS) on my edges and nape. Smooth n Shine Gellation is good. Right now I really like Fantasia Frizz Buster Gel because it adds a little shine, too. After 20-30 minutes under my scarf my hair is dry enough to leave the house w/o poofing up.

Since my hair is so fragile when wet, I really just apply my leave in, and let it dry a little before doing anything to it. Im a 4b too and the first few times I airdried, my hair looked like a fro as well. Now Im actually kinda digging the body I get from airdrying as opposed to thinner stick straight hair from blow drying. gives me more hair to fill out my updo or bun~

Anyway, If u can apply some kind of polisher or serum to your hair it helps it to lay down, and also a cream moisturizer(I like Elasta QP recovery) sealed with some oil(I use coconut). That should give it enough weight to lay down. Also, as it drys u may want to LIGHTLY comb or brush the top layer only to smooth with a little more oil or moisturizer as needed. Im 7 weeks post relaxer(though it sometimes feels like 17) and Im still airdrying with success

thanks, it much appreciated cause i get frustrated very easily so you can imagine how heated i was getting. i'll have to try that curl activator and i just ran out of serum so i'll have to get some of that. thanks!

o and sassygirl i just used a little conditioner as a leave in, and thats it.

Have you tried placing a scarf on your hair after styling it? This can help your hair lay down better.

yes, i put the scarf on ALL the time an it does nothing except for the very center of my hair line. anything past the center just sticks out and then gets puffy. i had to leave the house looking a mess today, it just wouldn't act right.psh...

you kno sassygirl i went to sally's today and i seen the scurl no drip and i left it there..i shoulda got it but i was in there for something in particular..and i didn't have money to really spend like that..who knows when i'll be up there again.
