Banding is awesome if you want to stay away from the heat of a blow out. Make as many ponytails as you need, and then you just put hair ties down the length of them to stretch your hair out, and then when you pick it out you'll have a nice big fluffy BAA.
i have a hype hair mag....i'll scan and post some styles for you. it pretty much has some braided mohawks...styles like that. i thought they were cute. or maybe freestyle braided in the front or in the back or all around the perimeter as if it's an afro puff pony.
eta: i can scan in the morning...it's 243 am right now
If you blow it out, it will be bigger. Don't blow it out too straight or it will flop. I'd say blow it out then twist it in big twists (maybe 15 or so). Right before you twist each section, moisturize or spritz with an oil/water mix very lightly and then twist. Let set over night. Undo the next day and fluff with your fingers. If you want it to stand up more on the top, you might have to pick the hair.
Yea. If you need a visual, try Googling 'fotki.com banding' or searching at Nappturality if you are a member. They've changed and I'm not sure if non-registered folks can access the new message board.
Jumbo Flat Twist-Outs help to extend my fro wonderfully, it gives a kinky full effect.
Another one of my faves: Mini flat-twist outs it extends the hair and the fro while giving the hair a curly appearance of texture that is consistent from root to end.
Or you can try a Bantu Knot out, the curls will be tight at first but in about two days with some good shakes of your head it will turn into a big bodacious curly fro
I've heard great things about banding as well I'll be trying that very soon myself
