Hey smh for a newbie I've got issues but anyway everytime I was my "sensitive/oily scalp" I strip it :( I don't mean normal strip but I have painful itching and some burning after for days.

First 5 times I used AO jay shampoo for dry scalp I've tried all their ones for sensitive scalp they sucked.
I've tried their clarifying and it works sometimes but still strips often.

Now even when I used the nu gro shampoo I still have scalp pain.

My questions are
1. could this be hardwater to blame?
2. What NATURAL shampoos with ALL natural ingredients may work for this? (fyi creme of nature and others still say a form of sulfate in the product list)
3. what type of leave in should I use?

Have you tried Trader Joe's shampoos? I believe they are natural.

I don't know hard water is to blame, but I can see how it can leave a coating on your scalp that could cause you discomfort.

May I ask how you wash your scalp? Do you use you nails to scrub or just massage with your finger pads? How often do you wash your hair?

Is your scalp sensitive to heat (I mean the outside temperature, not curling irons ). I'm in Houston and i've noticed in the last month, with the hot temps my scalp has been itching/burning like never before...I can't seem to get it to stop. I've never experienced anything like this...I'm from Cali! Can't hang! :nono:

Yikes u might be right but I hope not I just moved to Houston from NC and since it's been summer that's when it increased... I don't know what I should do but thanks for giving me a possible cause

I've tried trader joes tea tree shampoo it worked great a while but I think my scalp got use to it and then it didn't work so much so I finished it and tried the aubrey. I massage with my finger pads but a tad harder cause I get build up but I haven't scratched since I was a kid I try not to. I wash my hair like twice a week but lately I've been doing it once which is partly why I scrub kinda hard cause in a week its more build up than I'd have doing it everyday but I'm scared if I do it daily itll itch and hurt more

Have you seen a doctor to eliminate any skin conditions? People that suffer from oily scalp also suffer from conditions like seborrhea and so using a shampoo specifically for that condition might help.

BTW, besides Trader Joe's natural shampoos like AO Jay left my hair with a white film. I forget what I read was the cause of that so I wonder if they aren't leaving a coating on your scalp.

Your scalp pain sounds like it's more than just product caused. Please see a dermatologist and let them eliminate any conditions before you try with the products.

Do you apply products to your scalp? I don't. I don't even apply conditioner near my scalp but skin about 1 inch of the hair near my base when conditioning. I also do a final rinse with ACV to ensure there's no product left on my scalp whatsoever.

I did the dermo thing they said seborhea but for years I tried everything meanwhile I have "never" had a tight scalp or painful itching. It was just kinda dandruffy I tried what they said and they finally gave up and suggested I do all natural products and go natural so it worked for like 3 years and even though I still have flakes I've never had this pain or discomfort.
I do what you said the docs suggested I keep ALL things excluding shampoo away from scalp so I do.

Now about the film you're right its like a white icky film so maybe that's it.
I do have an acv rinse and I use it regularly it helps with the flakes.

It sounds like the sun is causing your seborrhea to act up and you may have some sunburn also. Since the acv rinses help you should keep doing them. I also suggest getting some 100% food grade aloe vera gel (or the actual plant) and using that on your scalp to help it heal if you do have a sunburn.

I'm trying to think of a gentle shampoo. I use baking soda rinses but the baking soda might make your scalp act up, even if it is very diluted. You could try it if you want to experiment. Also, if you go to Whole Foods and look in the baby care section they have some really gentle shampoos for kids that are all natural. You may want to look into one of those because they'd probably be the least irritating.
