"Straw Sets" Any Ladies Have One How Do You Maintain It?

My 13 year old 4b BSL wants a straw set and I'm not sure its a good idea.

Any suggestions or advisements pro or con are appreciated.

I had one before. It's similar to a rod set done with really small rods. But they set the hair on drinking straws. It'll look like tight small curls. It'll look like a curly fro. She can just wear a bonnet on it at night. It should keep up for 2 weeks or so. It'll start to fall as she wears it though.

My hair is short, but I wear them a lot, or else small rods.

My only problem is that I try to sleep a certain way to make the curls last longer and so that they don't get distorted or messed up.

They tend to last me a little over a week, and they look pretty when they loosen up after a few days. When the front starts to look messy, I wear a headband or something.

I think straw sets are cute. I don't have the patience to set them though. They are age appropriate for a 13 year and she won't have to fool with her hair for a couple of weeks. Like glamazon said they will start to fall, unless she's natural then they will shrink.

I'm under the dryer with a straw set right this very moment! This is the second one i've ever done. The first one turned out great. I made sure to wash and condition with the ORS pak. I only used Fantasia olive oil serum as a leave in and used Fantasia sparklites gel for hold. It was as good as any pro cold have done it. However, it took forever, so this time the parts are bigger. Since she is BSL I would not make the sections too small, definitely bigger than a pencil. Use an oil sheen spray. If the curls are too tight, use a product like the serum and your fingers (or even a blow dryer) to help pull it out and make it looser. Sleep with a bonnet on. And when it is time to wash them out, please condition the hair dry, don't wet it or shampoo it first becauseyou will have major tangles.
