Straighten Naturals-rollers and hairballs??

I roll my hair at times for curls and was wondering does anyone else hair sheds and hangs in balls at the ends of their hair? When I wrap my hair I don't notice this.

I was also wondering could rolling the hair up everynight caused too much manipulation which causes the hair to shed more??
