Straight Hair for 30 days?

Just when I thought my pj-ism was getting under control, here's yet another product that is more pocketbook friendly, considering the cost of traditional Brazilian Keratin Fusion treatments. Liqud Keratin that is the baby process of the full BKT. It's sixty bucks. Anybody try it? I just switched to mild Silk Elements Relaxer because it reverts quicker in the hair and processes less so the hair is not as damaged. I'm considering doing this Keratin Fusion over the retouches in case they are very underprocessed. Anybody try it???

Maybe it doesn't matter but did u notice that the keratin is the very last ingredient? This def supports the articles against the traditional BKT - they say that research has proven that the keratin isn't what straightens the hair.

& please don't take offense. I'm def not here on any soapboxes about keratin treatments. In fact, I made an appt 2 get the BKT done & in the last day or so I've been trying 2 get the nerve 2 go ahead & order it. I've read so much negative that I'm almost "spooked".

your right Nakia, I was reading a post from a white girl somewhere online that said she was doing these straightening treatments because they are suposed to be safer and better than relaxers, and she said she ended up with fried hair after a while with the treatments. most of the times things that sound too good to be true just may be that too good to be true.

and I've read that it's better on virgin hair, fhi has this sort of treatment and they really recommend using it on virgin hair.

Oh dear,.... I know this one doesn't have the strength of the others and only lasts 30 days but oh oh! Well, I've heard they infuse the hair to condition it very well...but now???? It doesn't have formaldehyde...so what could be straightening the hair?

You were asking about articles - now that I think about it, you may have only wanted articles specific to the treatment you mentioned. But these are just a few about the BKT.

@ 1st my attitude was well no one has researched what a relaxer does to one's health long term so, quoting another LHCF member w/the BKT, "you pick your poison."

But...I don't think I can, in good conscience, get this treatment.

Now, the 1 u mentioned may be fine. I'd just say research the ingredients to make sure there's nothing funny going on.

hmmm - interesting. If it is a home treatment - Hopefully - it is not as dangerous.... However, it probably won't give the results folks are looking for.
Who knows!!!!????? There are so many items that promise the moon... and give us nothing....
I would wait fot this to be on the market for at least a year. Someone will try it!

This is interesting - because the claims are that MOISTURE would stay longer with this treatment....

So - it sounds like all this stuff ( YUKO, KERATIN, Relaxers, Pressing) will DESTROY hair - if it is not done properly....perplexedperplexed

I think BTK is unproven. It has not been around long enough... and any home treatment would not have the same effect imo.........

I have a Venezuelan girlfriend who has it done and her hair is so moist and shiney. She doesn't even have to flat iron anymore and it used to take her an hour to flat iron. She is probably a 3c. I'm jealous everytime I see her! Her hair is not damaged and she has done the procedure multiple times.

Wow... Again... probably done Correctly......

Any procedure done wrong.... is disasterous.

yup i did the brazilian tx, the formaldehyde free one-Chocolate. i know my stylist did it well because she let me read the instructions. She said people who do it are supposed to be certified in doing it-yes certified. There is a whole kit, which contains shampoo and conditioner that are supposed to be used prior. My hair looks great, is sooooooooo manageable. the only thing is their is a smell that lingers in ur hair the first time u wash. now i don't smell it and i didn't smell it when she did it either but it smelt like perm. but i dont think other people could smell it maybe it was just because i was conscious of it

No offense taken. But not all things are for all people, including choosing not to do a procedure. /There is another treatment that is for curly hair called Nunaat but I'm not yet sure if it's a temporary straightening treatment. I just may stick with trusty ole relaxer.

I read something on QOD site that those products marketed as formaldehyde-free actually have a derivative of formaldehyde that, during the ironing process, turn into something stronger than it. I don't know if it's just a company trying to keep business since they formulated the first such product or if they are truthful about the chemical reactions. TX? Is that Marcia Teixeira's products from Florida?

That's the one I inquired about. I know it's not supposed to last but around 30 days or so. IDK. I'm kinda shying off the BKT's until they come up with something less dangerous. I realize that nearly all process products carry danger.
