Do many ladies here actually get a steam and really what is the purpose of it? I like a wash and a good ol deep conditioner with a shower cap and one of those inflatable dryers. Never had a steam or been tempted to get one. Cause I've never seen the point.

My hair felt like pure silk after I steam treatment(Thanks Macheriamour). I believe it helps to lock in moisture. But ususally I will let my towel sit under so hot water as I add the conditioner to my hair(KeraCare Moisture for Color Treated Hair....its the TRUTH). I will wrap the towel around my head and cover it with a plastic bag. Sometimes I sit under the dryer with it other times I dont. When it times to wash it out I feel my hair thanking me. Just try it. I guarantee you have nothing to lose.

Well I just usually allow the towel to sit around my plastic cap like mentioned above. I sit in my bathroom for a few minutes and breathe in the steam from the shower. It's a nice "spa feeling". I think steam benefits the hair by adding moisture.

I recently bought a Maxiglide and I noticed that the steam feature really locked in moisture...however it did too well, it made my natural hair frizzy. (laughs)

I think steam has it's benefits. Moist, conditioned hair thrives.

London, I want to get a professional steam treatment, but it isn't very common where I live. And I'm not ready to travel 40 miles to get one. It sounds wonderful, and if I can get it closer to me, I will try it.

Yea i want one, but i am not going to a salon its a waste of money. Pak comestics online sell them for £230 the professional aphrodite ones... Ive heard their really good for your hair...

I was thinking about trying to visit the steamroom at my gym twice per week. I don't think people would even notice that my hair was wet, most people's hair is wet in the steam room. I just couldn't use too much conditioner.

Thats a really good idea. Just slather on some conditioner and put on a plastic cap. I might have to try this.

I have a steamer machine and have had one for years, I always use it during every wash for at least 5 mins, it leaves your hair soft and moisturised, its a good investment.

My Mom has her own steamer, it works out cheaper to buy one than to go to the salon ever 2 weeks and get it done.

I somethings come to the steam/ sauna with a plastic cap and conditioner on my hair.

I would omit the plastic cap, I think the plastic will prevent the steam from getting into your strands. I am thinking of putting a little conditioner into my wet hair, some nice essential oils on my scalp, combing my hair back and going to the gym to steam.
