Hi there - I remember a beautician putting a lot of conditioner on my hair, then placing me under a "steam machine"

rinsing it out later and then styling. I didn't like the way she styled it - came out kinda hard - but - I went home and applied some Carol's Daughter HHB to it and wholla! Hair was in good shape! Nice and healthy too!

I have never been able to duplicate this at home

It had cost me $90 per session - I had it done twice.

Does steaming the hair actually help it? Or - was I just lucky those 2 times. Is there a place to buy a steamer - would it be worth it

TIA

I wonder what the difference is between traditional deep conditioning versus steam conditioning?

Ive heard of this Mufasa. When my cousin lived in Boston, her stylist used a "Humidifier" which sounded like what you described. The stylist's rationale was that heat was damaging but moist heat was therapeutic for the hair. I tried to find one online about a year ago but I couldnt. Ive never seen one in a salon so I dont have a company name or anything...good luck and keep us posted on this please...

This has been discussed on here before. If you do a search you should find more info and some links to places selling steamers online. I think someone on lhcf indicated that they paid $250 for their combo steamer/hood dryer.

yeah my mama had 2 steam caps and whoa do they do wonders on your hair. i dont know where she bought the first one ( thats the better one) its like a bonnet and you put it on top of your shower cap and clip it and it steams but the latest one she bought is like a big cap and it inflates and you hook up a blow dryer to it and it gets HOT. i think she bought that one at either sally's or wal-mart i'm not sure. speaking of steaming i'm about to steam my hair tonight.
