Just curious. I've heard that the cost of a "quality" sew-in can run pretty steep. I'm just in the research phase right now. Having a hard time getting a quote from most stylist because they'd rather you come in for a consultation before saying anything - - -which I totatlly agree with. I just want to know if it is within my reach or should I stop dreamin'?

Hi Miel ;)

The average cost for a GOOD job is generally no less than 150.00 and the hair is what costs the most IMO. For good hair (that wont tangle, shed etc) you will be in the neighborhood of 200.00 and up.....

About $120-$200 depending on what you get. Also you have to add the cost of the hair. Also, just because a stylist is expensive doesn't mean they will do a good job. I used to get my sew ins at the African Braid Shop (for $80) when I was in college to save money. The only thing with them is that you have to come with your hair already washed and blowdried and they do not cut and style the hair. I know last time I went they wanted $100 though. I usually do my own sew ins.

I totally agree but most often than not. A seasoned professional will always know the worth of their services and charge accordingly. Whenever Ive paid a surprisingly reasonable or less than market amount for anything Ive always had to compromise for something else the service didnt include.....:ohwell:

Pshh... the best weave I ever got I paid $55.00 for. And it was a full head straight hair weave. With bangs. All of my hair covered (mind you I'm natural). No track showing. Cut and styled nicely. Some of the places I called told me straight up over the phone they don't do straight hair weave with bangs bc they don't know how to do it. And I've known people who have paid an arm and a leg at a salon only to come out looking jacked.

To the OP - I would suggest that if you decide to get a weave, at least go to someone based off of a referral or see somebody else's hair that they have done so that you can decide accordingly.

i agree with this...and I ALSO THINK IT DEPENDS ON THE AREA-CITY-TOWN-STATE YOU LIVE IN..BECAUSE IN NY A WEAVE IN ONE OF THE 5 BOROUGHS CAN VARY FROM $150-400..
