I live in Florida and am well acquainted with the humidity of the summer/hurricane season. I did my first rod set and loved it....until I went out and it started to fall.(10 days of rain) After 2 days I looked a mess. So I tried spritzing the ends with Motions Leave-In and re-rodding the hair. They came out so pretty. (sorry no pictures-need to buy batteries  ) It may be a little bigger but atleast your curls won't look droopy for lack of better words. (unless droopy is what you want).
I hope this helps someone out.

I wanna know too. I'm moving to Augusta Georgia in August and I want to be well prepared. I hear the heat's no joke down south.

I was gonna suggest doing the same thing. Humidity in NY isn't as bad as it is in the South but spritzing with water and re-rodding helps when I want to get a few more days out of the style.

I agree that there is only but so much u can do to combat the summer months which is why I generally wear braids over the summer :) But I do have friends who claim that Aveda's anti-humectant works well to keep ur hair from turning into an instant afro on those really HOT days!
