What about us short haired chicks?!!!! On the commercials, I've seen the big one that they use on long hair and I've seen the smaller one that they use for touchups. The smaller one doesn't have steam burst technology. And the steam burst is what I really wanted to try.
Can us 'shorties' use the regular sized Maxi-glide???
Except for roller sets and conditioning, I've not used heat on my hair for just over a year, but all this talk of flat irons has me thinking that every once in a while would not be a bad thing. Except... I was so damanged from heat and overprocessing when I started and my hair is really healthy right now.
Does the maxiglide heat with steam not damage your hair?
How often do you use it?
I know it has heat settings, which do you use?
What are the styling benefits?
Is it easier/better than roller setting?
Do you air dry and then flat iron?
Or do you also blow dry?
Do you sometimes worry about too much heat?
Do you experience breakage?
Why maxiglide over other brands?
What do you do to your hair in preparation for use?
Do you use a heat protectant? Which one and why?
Any other information from the terrified of too much heat therefore I use none would be useful.
It worked great for both my relaxed AND natural hair. But after some months the paint started chipping. Im also starting to think there is better out now so Im going to order a Sedu, which i believe has smoother plates. I also got better results just using the flat plate instead of the one with the pins because the plate with the pins just didnt get my hair straight enough. But besides the fact that the cermic coating is rubbing off I think it was a really great flat iron and made my hair swaaang haha
Oh and.. Does the maxiglide heat with steam not damage your hair? The steam worked great when I did use it and I didn't notice any damage with the appropriate heat protection. How often do you use it? I use it around every 2 months I know it has heat settings, which do you use? I use numeral 6! What are the styling benefits? It makes your hair very smooth and straight whithout being flat. You can also do waves and flips with it because it's curved Is it easier/better than roller setting? I have nooo idea I never had a roller set lol Do you air dry and then flat iron?
Or do you also blow dry? I usually air dry in a bun to prevent damage from the blow dryer. When my hair is dry and I take the bun out it's usually very smooth so it's easier to straighten Do you sometimes worry about too much heat? Yes which is why I use a lot of heat proectent, moisturize a lot, and air dry Do you experience breakage? My ends need to be trimmed but I think they would have experience slight breakage anyway because I have not cut my hair since June 06. I actually think the damage of my ends is comming from the dryness and tangles of my curly hair and not from the flat iron. Why maxiglide over other brands? I liked the steam factor, the large size made it easier for me, and the hype ofcourse haha What do you do to your hair in preparation for use?
I wash with john frieda, deep condition, apply beyond the zone "straight shot", air dry in a bun, section hair, spray a section with beyond the zone 'turn up the heat', grab a small peice of hair from the section and apply smooth & shine silk 'n sleek straightning polish (without this my hair doesnt come out the same!),
Thanks again. I am amazed that the maxiglide will work on relaxed hair and not cause breakage or excessive dryness.
What about the miniglide? It has no steam (kind of a bummer) but is smaller. I read the maxiglide is large and can be hard to handle if you have small hands (which I do).
I hate the miniglide with a passion because it singed of a portion of my hair. It burned it off! No heat dial and no steam makes me think what led to this tragedy.
