I was looking over some old pictures the other day while setting up my fotki and I seen a picture of my hair at ear length, and it was on shine! Not greasy, but with a nice natural sheen type shine. So, I starting thinking like "what am I not doing now that I used to do before to make my hair look like that?" :scratchch

After thinking about it for while, the light bulb came on: That daggone Denman brush! So there I am searching around for the brush...looking here there and everywhere and my husband was like:

"Didn't you throw that brush away because you said it was the devil?" Opps....:hammer:

So I had to do the best I could and use the brush I normally use for my ends (not a Denman), but it worked okay. I went through my hair little sections at a time gently brushing.

I swear that was a REAL treat! :)

So, now I have to truck my butt down to the Italian BSS and demand to buy out their entire supply of Denmans! :driver: :sekret: :orders:

I think I'll incorporate the brushing once a week... cuz that was naass...brought out the infant in me :babyg:

I brush my hair too. I use both a Boar Bristle Brush & I have 2 denmans. I use them to stimulate my scalp/roots.

Is the boar bristle brush hard or soft? I did see one and the bristles were hard but flexible (almost like stiff straw), but when I asked the Italian lady if it would good for thick hair and she said no because it will pull at the hair too hard.

I ended up buying a D4 and a paddle brush. And of course the PJ in me couldn't just leave it at that....

30 minutes later and a couple of CHA, CHING$ I walk out the store with:

1. Denman D4
2. Large paddle brush
3. Aeto Botanica Bamboo & Wild Mango Fortifying Mask
4. 2 bags of flex rods
5. JOC Care hair anti-aging treatment :look:
6. JOC Care hair anti-aging shampoo
7. JOC Care Detangling Cream
8. Silicone Hair Liquid
9. Wooden anti-static Comb
8. A mixing bowl for my relaxer

And of course, Italians LOVES da kids, so they threw in some kids purfume for Chelsea and cologne for Anthony.
:whyme:Now gotta figure out how to do flex rods and what/when/how to use the other products! BUT EYZ GOT MA DENMAN!:D

I am a HOT MESS!!!! And out of control

So brushing your hair doesn't cause extra hair loss??? I usually only brush mine when it's in a bun to make it lay down, but that's just brushing over the top layer really.

When I brushed last night, I didn't see anymore hairs than I normally do. When I had a stylist back in 2003 I asked her if it was okay to brush and what kind should I use because the Cathie Howse method supports no brushing. My sylist repsonded and said that it's healthy to brush every so often, but I shouldn't brush everyday. Then she stated the best brush to use is a Denman. I did buy one as recommended and began brushing, but at the time my hair was ear length and I could brush from root to ends in one stroke with no problems. Then as my hair got longer, I thought I could brush in the same fashion, but I did notice (what I thought) more than usual hair loss. So I chucked the thing like a bad one night stand!

But, this time when I used my paddle brush (I use for my ends only laid against my chest), I sectioned my hair off in 6 sections and gently brushed from root to ends (I am currently like 10 or 11 weeks post) and had no problems. Now I did this of course after I lightly misted my hair with water and applied my usual ORS carrot moisturizer and HOT 6. Afterward my hair head felt good and I could finger through my NG seamlessly.

Keclee - OHHHHH - Brushing sounds so good right now. Like a serious treat. Sometimes just to have something feel so good on the scalp -

OHHHHHH, I may treat myself this weekend. I have been using a soft boar brush but I get so tempted by my son's brush whenever I see it.

LOL! I think brushing will be my new alternative to sneaking :sekret: to the spa so often. I'm tired of seeing my husband's face  when he looks at the recipt. :)

I felt a brush on my scalp in years. I miss it. :( Denman you say? I might have to check it out.

My boar bristle brush is medium. I got it from Sally's & love it. I only use it at the scalp - not to the ends. I like to wet the brush with warm water first and then brush the scalp. This gives moisture, moves the oils & stimulates my scalp. Then I use my fingers, a pick, or wooden comb on the length.

I use the denmans from scalp to ends when my hair is wet w/conditioner or a creamy leave in like QB Honey Brush Tea Gel or Curls Milkshake. I have not experience hair loss or breakage with either one. Since your hair is relaxed, the denman is probably best for you.

BTW: I see you went on a little shopping spree:cool:.

When i joined LHCF, i threw away all my brushes.LOL!! I thought i would die without them, but i've been fine(don't even miss them). But alot of people say brushing is good for the hair. In Machieramour's blog, she got two brushes, just to help reinforce her wrap. Some say brushing help the serum from the scalp distribute throughout the hair, so brush on gurl.;)

Yes, I think I will stick with the Denman, because I was looking at the boar brush then I looked at my hair and I was like  . I think I would be just asking for it..."Hi my name is Lekecia and I've recently jointed the head rugs for women, not only am I a client...I'm also the President!" :ohwell:

I guess for some it works but I have to sit this one out.

Yes, I did go on a shopping spree, I felt like a kid in a candy store. It's interesting because all my 2.5 years in Italy, I never spent that much time in the BSS. I've always ran in looked around and scrammed out. So, it was fun and I had a blast. A few of the Italians kept on looking at me like  , they found us! :lachen:
