I want to try henna but I am still getting overwhelmed and confused by some of this info. My hair has lighter coppery ends and I know that henna will change them but I really don't care. If someone could just help me with a couple of specific questions I will be ready to go.

1) What brands have you all used with success? How do I know I won't get a greenish cast?

2) What is the whole "release" thing about?

3) What are some ways to prepare my henna? I want a dark brown result so what should I be looking to add if anything at all?

4) Do I condition afterwards?

Sareca you lay the information down! You are a blessing to the LHCF community!

Thanks Sereca. You basically summed up what I've been trying to figure out on two boards for a week.

Thanks ya'll. It's still a work in progress. We're (Vixxen and myself) hoping to finish it up next week. But a whole lot of people contributed with their questions and responses. We're just pulling it all together and hoping to get it made sticky.

Awesome Sareca!!! :D Just for the record, it's okay to use a relaxer on hair that has already been henna'd. right?

It is...I did my relaxer yesterday. Just do a strand test first to make sure! :)

What'd you henna it with? Was it pure henna? Then yes, otherwise test a little hair in the relaxer first.

Thanks sareca and womanly charm. I'm not relaxing, but I at least want to know my options and risks if I ever decide to. :)

Good ones Sweetie. Here's one more reference ... a FAQ based on LHCF threads. http://journals.fotki.com/Serica/

Just wanted to shout you out on this VERY informative henna page. I hadn't really thought about henna until I kept seeing the threads about it (maybe it was subliminal messaging!)

I used to get rinses when I wore relaxers. I've been reading that hennas will give shine and strength to hair, so that's what made me curious about it.

Thanks again.
