My hair is like 1.5 past APL. (finally) But I've been at APL for almost a YEAR. And it's grown maybe 2 inches since my APL update. I cannot for the life of me keep it healthy this year/semester.

My ends look raggedly, so I think I'm going to get them cut off today (2 inches) and just wear it up for a month until my ends grow back :(

It's like I hae build up on my scalp. My scalp is sort of dry, but I don't feel like cowashing, so after 3 days when it starts flaking, I just put it in a messy bun and keep going.

It's soft, but it doesn't feel as strong as it used to despite me using ORS Hair Mayo. I think they may have changed the formula on me.

I'm prolly having a problem with moisturizing and sealing. I don't do it often because my hair is soooo fine, when I moisturize it it's just lifeless. (I was using Kids Organics Lotion and Africa's Best Oil or Olive Oil)

What's a girl to do? Can I have some help or just some friggin encouragement. Lord please don't let me go in to get my ends clipped and come out looking like Boo Boo the Fool and possibly be back full shoulder length.

Sometimes it takes a good trim to get things back on track. You would be back shoulder length, but a healthy shoulder length, right? APL will live again, hair grows back :yep:

Do you use any protein for your hair? Also, maybe try moisturizing and sealing and protecting your ends for awhile (wig, bun). I haven't trimmed in 2 years, and when I went to get my hair relaxed last week, I was told my ends looked good! Or try baggying your ends for a few nights. hth

Sorry for your frustration.

Can we see some pictures of your claim? You might have hair anorexia and it might not be that bad.

Try baggying your ends. And alternating between using moisturizing DCs. sounds like you have a lot of protein in your reggie.and since you dnt think ORS Mayo is working anymore, try using a diff. protein DC. have u tried ORS Replen. Pack or Aphogee? Oh and start cowashing! LOL

Regarding your moisturizing and sealing...I have fine, relaxed hair and most stuff is way too heavy. However, I've recently had very good luck with Qhemet's Burdock Root Butter Cream for moisturizing and sealing with a few drops of Grapeseed oil. My hair still has swing with this combination. HTH

along with the above healthy hair starts from the within & from the scalp when ur scalp is acting up it's trying to tell you something. Are yo drinking water, eating right?
As far as the ends how are you wearing your hair daily?

Are you sure your ends are damaged/split? If not, you can baby them & do protective/low mani styles and then trim later. And maybe you need a stronger protein like Aphogee 2-step. If you decide to trim don't let your stylist chop off all your progress...good luck.

When the last time you Clairify your hair?

Also when you moisturize and seal "a little goes a long way" and focus on them ends, dust your ends in between trims.

You may just need some protein. I have to keep protein in my rotation at least every week whether it's a protein conditioner or leave in. It has to be something. My hair broke off when I was trying to condition it on just moisture alone. What other dc's do you have? It's gonna be okay.:yep:

I just got turned on to this oil- good stuff! :yep:

Ima post pictures in a minute....It's just sooo tangled and I dunno weird feeling. It's soft one day, hard the next, and just ugh who knows

It doesn't look bad in pictures actually. I dunno what the problem is! I went ahead and got a touch up because even if I cut it, I won't do it when I'm 2 months post because I have shrinkage. When I did the touch up, my "thin ends" didn't look as bad anymore, but I'm still experiences the krazy tangling. I don't know What's wrong!! grrr. The first two are after flatironing with GVP and CHI spray. The third is after just blowdried. (I'm ending heat too for awhile to try to get my hair back :( )

Do you use a heavy protein at any point in your regimen? I know you said you use ORS Mayo, but that's rather light.

i wouldn't try to hold on to those ends like other posters suggested.
i'd evaluate my reggie to find the source of the problem, cut off the ends, and start anew.
i know, i know, it sucks...but I think it's worth it in the end. i'd much rather be a healthy neck length with great looking ends (not implying that's how much needs to go at all) than a scraggly BSL.
health before length, honey.

My suggestions:

Clarifying shampoo
A good moisturizing conditioner
A good protein conditioner (I'd recommend ApHogee 2 Minute)
Coconut Oil to seal damp/wet hair and to "moisturize" dry hair (I know that oils normally don't moisturize, but coconut oil actually penetrates the hair shaft and nourishes it)
Since you have a dandruff/flaking problem, create an oil mixture with Tea Tree oil as an essential oil. Maybe combine olive oil and a few drops of Tea Tree Oil. You can very very lightly apply that to your scalp, like with the tip of your finger instead of pouring it.

When I was relaxed, the products that did my relaxed hair some good were the shampoo and conditioner from Paul Mitchell's Instant Moisture line. The Instant Moisture Daily Shampoo and Instant Moisture Daily Treatment.

ETA: Oh, and like others have stated, trim the ends too! Try to limit your heat usage if it's not working with your goals, and possibly do more rollersets or buns. Or even just a regular wrap should suffice.
