Has anyone tried them both? I am wondering because:
1. I want to give up on lye, but not deal with the downfalls of calcium build up
2. Soft & Beautiful has the same active ingredient as Phyto.

How do they compare? Ladies I am begging you, chime in if you have tried either, but especially both!

I've never tried Phyto but I've been a soft & beautiful girl for over 13 years now (rotated with Gentle Treatment).

What can I say, I love Soft & Beautiful, I like my hair bone straight and it gets the job done, and I've never suffered any damage from it.

I never have a problem with calcium buildup because I use Kenra clarifying shampoo weekly.

Or this one?

Kristal, which one has the same ingredients as phyto?

I use the regular one in the pink box.....I've used the botanicals once before and it gave the same results as the regular S&B.

Thank you Foxy!:)

Oh and Kristal, if I were you I wouldn't worry too much about the alleged calcium buildup. Not saying it isn't true but i switched over to no lye from lye and my hair is better off. Every time I would relax I would damn near burn my scalp off and end up with bad perm sores and it wasn't worth it to me. I will NOT burn my deg on scalp off in the name of trying to get straight hair. It is not that serious to me. So lye perms are a no no to me.

I say keep up on the clarifying and it shouldn't be an issue. I also think a lot of people may be confusing needing to clarify with calcium build-up because it seems to be an easy target to blame.

I say try it, and if it doesn't work out. Go back.

Thank you locks, you know what? I think I will!!! Tell you how it went down in six weeks. I will do a corrective with it too although people say lye + no- lye correctives are a no-no! lol

The ingredients in the pink one is much better IMO.

But if I were you I wouldn't do a corrective with it. I would use a lye to do a corrective with. You don't want to take any chances of hair loss and on the relaxer boxes they say not to use no lye on lye. But I would use it on my virgin newgrowth.

Which ingredient in Phyto is the same as in Soft and Beautiful? The Botanical formulation has lithium hydroxide, Pink box is calcium. Phyto says soy and egg complex in the base and there is guanide carbonate in the inductor.

I have to agree with Honi. I don't think Sof & Beautiful has the same ingredients as Phyto. I looked at every relaxer in the BSS before buying Phyto. I could not find one with the same ingredients. Not saying Phyto is better but the ingredients are definitely and singularly unique IMHO.

All no-lye perms have guanidine carbonate as the activating ingredient in the liquid, including phyto. The difference is that most no-lye relaxers use calcium hydroxide in the creme base as well. Phyto does not. It uses egg and soy protein.

Didn't someone post that the ingredients in the Vitale relaxer ( i forgot which one) were very similar to Phyto?
