Sodium Lactate better than Glycerin?

It's supposed to be better than glycerin to moisturize the hair.

On another board, someone mentioned using it instead of glycerin, and since I was never a fan of glycerin because it made my hair sticky and flaky, I went ahead and ordered some Sodium Lactate.

I added some to my homemade concoctions, and my hair absolutely loves it!!

My hair stays soft and moisturized for days. It's a keeper!!!!!!

Not as sticky. It is rather liquidy, whereas glycerin's texture is like honey.

My hair didn't feel sticky and gooey at all. Just moisturized, and it stays like that for days.

did you use it alone or mixed with something else?

I wouldn't think of using it alone. I added it to my homemade concoctions, 1 part Sodium Lactate for 4 or 5 parts haircream/pommade/lotion. I have those jars of shea butter mixed in with castor oil, coconut oil, distilled water or rosewater, some essential oil, and I just added 1 or 2 teaspoon of SL to them.

I also used some in my body lotion, and it made it more moisturizing for my skin. But, I read that SL can make the skin photosensitive, so I need to be careful about using on parts of the body that are going to be in the sun...

It's supposed to be good for the skin too. So I added 1 or 2 teaspoons to my EO Rose and Chamomille Body Lotion, and it sure made my skin more moisturized. My legs tend to be flaky and ashy toward the end of the day. I put some on my legs this morning and I was in a classroom with air conditioner all day. You know how that stuff can dry your skin. My legs are still not flaky or ashy. Yipee!!!

I'm so glad to see this thread! I'm interested in Sodium Lactate, too. I must get some, soon.
