I was watching the Ashanti "good good" video and i automatically thought about LHCF when i saw the soda can roller set. I was :lachen:!!!!
Then I thought to myself if that IS really possible, how do you get those bil ol' things to stay in?????? and did anybody ever try this before???? Just curious.......
Don't shoot me!

When you have weave down your back then you can achieve the Soda Can rollerset.

I thought that was an old beauty secret if you were in a pinch and wanted big hair with massive volume but didnt have rollers that big. Heard about white folks using them in their hair back in the day.

i'm sure u can use it for those who have length enough to do it on. I just don't know how you would keep it up there

lol, they just did this on Tyra today when pranking some people.
My mother said she grew up with a girl who would set her hair with beer cans, and the girl had such bouncy curls, full of volume.

I don't know how to get it to stay though.

my teacher said her mom used to set her hair with soda cans in the 50's....i have no clue how they kept them on though

My aunts tell me back home in Panama, they used empty veggie cans, soda etc. to roll their hair.(mostly the woman who are mid back lenght.

Heard of this before. Kinda makes sense to me, especially for those who can't or couldn't get their hands on big enough rollers.

Couldn't the hole in the can be used with a long silver clip??

or broke people which is where I'm sure it came from.

Maybe when I get MBL+ I'll try it. I would love to have to "complain" that I can't find rollers big enough for the style I want. LOL

I heard they used rubber bands or ponytail holders to hold the soda cans in hair.

I did that for prom on dry hair. It worked well cause I was jobless and my mom wasn't going to buy a big curling iron. I was extra ghetto and cut one side off to get the clip to stick. I saved the soda cans in our house for a little over a week and put a lot of effort into it then sprayed it down with aerosol hairspray. It gave my freshly pressed hair more body.

LMAO we should make a challenge called "The Soda Can Rollerset" :lachen:
LOL! That is too funny!!!!!!!! I was thinkin someone was gonna say something like that! I am actually thinkin about trying that but i would have to save cans, but I hardly drink soda now so that would take a long time....... Mayb it could work? anybody kno how to keep it in?

Hmmm yall are on your own with this one :lachen: :lachen:

If you cant afford or don't have access to rollers then I understand, but if you can...

Soooooo....
Do you sit under the dryer with the soda cans?
I'm thinking...can, aluminum, scalp, heat, HOT!!! :burning:
I can't stand for the clip to get hot let alone a can!!!

Just a random thought :lachen:

my mom said she & my great aunts did that occasionally, but yes, u need fairly long hair, long clips or pins. ...warm weather so hair dried faster.

I've never tried it. I think it's hysterical in the vid. super cute.

:lachen::lachen::lachen: good weather or crank the central.

I read a while back that Mariah Carey did this which I guess is how she always had pretty big curls w/ lots of volume.

:lachen:I didn't think of that that's just too funny. When I saw the video I was like oh how do you do that? but I would try it but I already have a big ol head of hair and I don't need to get it any bigger.

love the song and video def my ringtone and i 2nd the weave down ur back makes it all possible but i think it cute lol

In the old days, I remember hearing about frozen orange juice cans being used as rollers. Now I am thinking that one could ventilate the cans using a hole punch to go under the dryer and hold the cans in the hair with clips just like any other roller...?

There was a member here, albane, and she showed some rollers that were out of control big. I'm unable to find them online though. :(

Hopefully she won't mind that I posted the picture because I don't think it's her in the picture.

bumping it up for all those talking about gaga's cans...

IMO I think that it is worth a try, especially in Hot socal... In the summer with so setting lotion... the metal cans would dry the hair faster. Bikini... can rollerset, hair net...

that equals, relaxation, tan and bomb hair later for the night out...

I might try this when the weather heats up a bit, I dont care if yall laugh....
